The United States help page for this feature does not say the account owner needs to set it up, but the Australia help page does. Even though the team permissions are set to allow "Take payments" permission the account owner still needed to login to the iPhone and enable tap to pay before other users could then login and use it.

Hi there. You do not have to use barcodes, although some sellers do prefer to utilize a barcode scanner. Square for Retail allows you to manually input inventory for your items as an alternative.

Depending on your shop you don't need money, put it on a tablet you got and just use pay to tap then get the reader for $60 when you can. Upgrade latter

You can use the customer directory to save the customer's email. Also, when you use a payment card for the first time with a Square Seller, you are asked on the point of sale device to enter your email address or phone number to receive digital receipts for future purchases made with this card via email or text message. At this point, the email address or phone number is attached to that payment card. If you provided your email address, you will automatically be sent receipts to this address when you make subsequent purchases with that card at Square Sellers without having to enter in your email address each time. You can disable the developer options from the Settings section of your device. Usually this can be done via your phone Settings > Developer Options. If you're unsure, you should be able to find this by googling your phone model + disable developer options.
