He giggles when he mentions the curse they say to all non believers… but beware of it cuz it ain’t no joke. 23 Denison was my church …. Very beautiful but the curses can kill you so don’t take it so lightly! And it’s lame to think you need an invitation to go to church. I know you’ll feel like an outside but just cover your hair women sit on the right n keep your shoes at the door n you’ll be fine but at Denison beware of his curse this speaker must be talking bout him when he giggles off the curse. Again- beware! Don’t say I didn’t warn you! If you want to feel more welcomed at a more open feeling tawehdo church go to Abuna in Cookstown he’s got a tawehdo thing going on up there too but bit diff than Tycos n Denison. You feel the holybspirit in each tho. They are real churches but demons still working through tycos n Denison careful…

I've recently become Byzantine Catholic, I was Roman Catholic for years. I'm trying to learn all these things that are new to me, like the extra fasts. Is there a book that explains this stuff that Byzantine Catholics do that are different, so I can learn about it? Thanks.

His Beatitude is a wonderful shepherd, but you cannot be Catholic and Orthodox. You can be Catholic and orthodox. Or you can be catholic and Orthodox. And while they are essentially the same faith (with some significant, as well as some overrated, differences), they are now, at present, two completely different Churches. May God bless His Beatitude and all Catholics and Orthodox. Slava Isusu Christou! Slava Navicky!

Marking the musical moments for myself because I always come back to listen to it. I just love the harmonies. One thing I find interesting is that they say the Our Father in recto tone even though there exists a harmonized version that was picked up probably for our Slavic brethren. You can hear it at Holy Transfiguration in McLean VA or from St. George Melkite’s CD of Melkite music if not online. 17:00 Trisagion 19:59 Litany of Supplication (?) 24:10 Cherubic hymn 27:49 “(we welcome) the King of (all)…” 28:52 Litany of completion 37:37 “Sanctus” 42:58 Heirmos 48:40 Our Father 51:58 Koinonikon for Sundays and Feasts

Definitely following. I’m curious if we can contact lumber yards to source wood. We may need to cut our own boards; something I will be doing most likely.

This is so typical of the uniates. They talk about advantages and their particular customs which they have supposedly preserved, but when it comes to telling you what in the world they are, they do not seem to be able to tell you even one. Give us a list of all these wonderful customs that you have been able to preserve or shut up! Really it is all too much.

One incorrect detail: Thomas didn't make the Paris comment about Chrysostom's commentary on Matthew. It was on the Opus Imperfectum. The Opus imperfectum was historically attributed to Ambrosiaster, but ultimately, its author is anonymous.

Fr. Lazarus, a Coptic who lives in the cave of St. Anthony says we can use the following formula when praying for someone else: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have Mercy on your Servant __________. (Living) or Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have Mercy on the soul of your Servant ___________.

This talk didn't really solve the problem in a meaningful way (maybe the book does, I don't know), but I appreciate that Fr. Geoffrey at least acknowledges that the Liturgy and sacraments of the Church very rarely (if ever) accomplish the transformation that they intend to accomplish.

This is true. There are some similarities between the uniates and the old rite. However, the similarities are pretty trivial and I can't see any advantage to them since the uniates failed to preserve the Orthodox faith along with them.

I assume that this man completed at least elementary school... Perhaps he once heard about the heresy of Caesaropapism (a situation where a bishop - in this case the bishop of the city of Rome - presents himself as the head of the church). Those who have fallen into that heresy cannot be Orthodox, even though they try to imitate Orthodoxy with external manifestations. But the Holy Spirit is no longer there...
@fernandoduranmanzano11 ай бұрын
I am starting from the premise that you have no idea what you are talking about, based on the fact that your definition of what Caesaropapism is, is simply wrong and your knowledge and understandings of the history and true teaching of the church are presented to be quite limited or simply null. Caesaropapism is the idea of combining the power of secular government with, or making it superior to, the spiritual authority of the Christian Church (definition copied from orthodoxwiki for its simplicity). Paradoxically, the greatest examples of this phenomenon are found on the eastern side; such as the examples of Byzantium and its emperors or more recent ones in the Tzars (like Ivan the Terrible) or even what we see today in Putin's Russia and that of his "altar boy": the patriarch Kirill. On the western side, an example of what is referred to when we talk about Caesaropapism would be that of the Anglican church and King Henry VIII. No one who is consistent and knowledgeable of the history and teachings of the Church can affirm that this has ever referred to the bishop of Rome (I am sure that one can cite individuals who can affirm such things, as can also be find individuals asserting other kinds of errors; but these do not define what the Church actually teaches and have maintained as doctrine). Regarding the bishop of Rome and his universal jurisdiction, his authority and primacy over the rest is something accepted, confirmed and reflected in the ecumenical councils, the historical witness and in the fathers of the church themselves. Here I leave you a quote from one of the church fathers most revered by the eastern orthodox, with the purpose (and hope) of encouraging you to study this matter in depth, and that the truth might set you free, separating you from deceptions and healing you from schisms contrary to the will of Christ and far from being the result of the work of the Holy Spirit: "The extremities of the earth, and everyone in every part of it who purely and rightly confesses the Lord, looks directly towards the Most Holy Roman Church and her confession and faith, as to a sun of unfailing light awaiting from her the brilliant radiance of the sacred dogmas of our Fathers, according to which the inspired and holy Councils have stainlessly and piously decreed. For, from the descent of the Incarnate Word amongst us, all the churches in every part of the world have held the greatest Church alone to be their base and foundation, seeing that according to the promise of Christ Our Savior, the gates of hell will never prevail against her, that she has the keys of the orthodox confession and right faith in Him, that she opens the true and exclusive religion to such men as approach with piety, and she shuts up and locks every heretical mouth which speaks against the Most High.' -(Maximus. Opuscula theologica et polemica, Migne, Patr. Graec. vol. 90)

The word "Icon" is a Greek word and translates as "image". For the icon to have the power of guidance, defense, etc. it must be sanctified with the prayer of the Orthodox priest. There are also wizard icons with charms on them. The icon must be purchased only from the monastery or church and not be recieved as gift. The word "grace" translates as "the right given by Jesus Christ to priests to offer prayers of release, baptism, communion, etc.", grace can only have the priest and not a icon or anyone else.
@adamcharleshovey7105 Жыл бұрын
First of all, Catholic priests have apostolic sucession, so are also ministers of grace. (In fact, this channel is a done by both Eastern Catholics and Eastern Orthodox) Second of all, most of what you said isn't even Orthodox. I am guessing you are a member of True Orthodoxy™. Either that, or ROCOR.
