Her mom didn't want to go into Assistance living in United States, so why would you put her in a Nursing home in Kenya ? The benefits have improved for her only daughter living with added income of her mother 's social security! Of course her friends/ classmates still asked about her, but Toddre has changed her telephone number several times& a few pictures sent via phone was when her mother first came to Africa! When Toddre requested classmates to get together & send her mom a picture mural,she also mentioned send it by DHL delivery ( cost $ 40) ! We are senior citizens & living on a fixed income! I wish them well!,Dorothy Hopson' ,her mom best friend, whom she grew up with ,just died ! If anyone is reading this please tell Toddre to tell her mom!

I really enjoyed hearing Toddre's experiences in Kenya, especially how she brought her mother there. That really gives me hope, although my mother is too afraid to come to Spain, since she doesn't speak English. Lots to ponder. Thanks for the great series on aging, Christine!

It's fatiguing getting into political discussions abroad. Because you can't really start from current events; you have to provide context then get into the objective facts then get into your opinion. Sigh. I'm very passive / dismissive about talking about American politics. Even though I'm already living abroad, with a good pathway to permanent residency in Europe, the outcome of US elections still has impact on my life abroad (even if I ignore what's happening with family + friends).

Great discussion on liberation for a new foreign “relocator”. Now living, for the last 3 months in a new country, my definition of liberation is shifting. I’ve had to sit with this idea along with many other topics.

The “Hyper-individualism” that is taught to us in the US is very toxic and has led to an epidemic of loneliness in the US. We need community to survive and thrive. You can’t build every road you want to travel on. Life is a group effort. Love your Podcast❤

Good interview! USA is very anti-black women. Yes, black women should keep their dating options open. We are not undesirable. I love hearing bw finding love, marriage, etc. We need to have men who will love, protect,provide for you and his children. The color, nationality shouldn't matter.

Insightful and inspiring, as always. I appreciate the line of questions. Helps listeners to think carefully about the different angles of one's experience. I'm from Toronto... seeking to move to Europe. That's funny, I'll admit...but, it's really isn't about the location - it's about flourishing abroad. Thank you, Christine. The quality of your content is unmatched. Looking forward to your future podcasts and projects.

This is such an informative and helpful podcast. Thank you so much, I liked and subscribed. Just a quick question, do you know if 1. Are you allowed to apply for a longer term visa such as the non lucrative or digital nomad visa while you’re on this visa? 2. What type of visa do you get for the NALCAP
@FlourishInTheForeign Жыл бұрын
So unless things have changed, you're issued a student visa when you participate in NALCAP. Typically, if you're changing visas you have to return to your home country and apply there. However, I think there may be some instances when you can apply in country, I just don't know of any specifically. An immigration attorney would know best. Hope this helps! And thanks so much for listening to the podcast!

Sis thank you so much for this amazing and helpful video, advices, and sharing your personal experience! It seems like you had an amazing experience!! ❤️❤️ I am applying this coming January 2024 😅 wish me luck! I’m on my final year as an undergraduate student. One question I had was, were you able to choose your teaching level? Or does the Spanish Education pick for you? I wanna try to work for a high school one, so it’s easier to connect with students more!

Thanks so much for watching! I'm so glad you found it useful! It's been a while since I participated in the program, so my memory is a bit hazy lol. I don't think there is a section to select which age group you'd prefer. However, you could mention who you would prefer to work with and why in your personal statement. Hope that helps!
