I do not like the white umbrellas at the bucuti and I wish they would change that, the Palapas like they have at Manchebo give a cozier more Caribbean feel. I do like the thoughts of adults only and the updated at bucuti but I like the thoughts of the tropical feel at Manchebo so I’m still trying to decide

Mocha Bay (as of 6/24/23)

We stayed at the Manchebo and walked over to B&T to check it out. It had way too sterile a vibe for us. Manchebo is much more tropical and relaxing-feeling. For the record, the Manchebo is not cheap. It’s actually one of the the most expensive hotels in Aruba.

Clear, concise, and straight to the point; great review!!! But....Sandals Emerald Bay is ok if "you're on a budget" ???? Sorry sweetie, but most people (like myself) cannot even afford a Sandals resort. Not everyone makes 6 -7 figures a year.....especially with "Biden Inflation" going on right now.

So I did see this review before we went and wasn't sure about the resort. However, I HAD A BLAST! The sunset was the most beautiful I had ever seen. Most of the review is right. But go with a open mind post covid. I went in mid September and didn't see the kids.

Still 5 stars in our book ! Please do not believe what she says here coz really not the case. Lets be fair :) We been going here since they first built it and if you want everything for free then go to an all inclusive vacation place :).. You just need to do proper research on when to go so it is not crowded and what you can avail of etc. anywhere you go worldwide they nickel dime you but here in Maui there are amenities for free and all you have to do is ask and they staff will always hook you up ! Alot of folks leave gear behind and the staff keeps them for other guests to enjoy :).. Why ask for towels when you can do laundry in your villa ? Detergent is free just ask for it. We kept our beach gear and re use it yearly and never rent or borrow etc. we cook our own food and bbq onsite for free and just go to the grocery store for what we need at Foodland or Safeway nearby. We eat out on good places too and pig out on where the locals go. You obviously went to the tourist areas and yes it is expensive because everything is shipped in to the island. Ask the bell hop team coz they know where good cheap food is !! LOL ! I suggest you really plan where you go and do research so avoid bad experiences but doing a bad review is not fair :( In your situation, I think you have to stick to the all inclusive vacation resorts like the riu in Cancun so you do not spend any money at all on your stay. WOW ! We have been going here for over 17 years. You complain a lot. We had so much fun there and just so you know, all resorts charge extras. The kitchen is a full kitchen not a kitchenette. Towels are free as well. Not sure why you were charged so many fees etc. Please do not be discourage.

Once you have dined here you will never go anywhere else.

You say there was no available lounge chairs at the beach and pool …I’m not definitely going to this place and I’m not getting up early on my vacation to go on a reserve list for a lounge chair..

The resort is more suited for Timeshare owners

One needs to keep in mind that these are time shares, not hotels, therefore they only clean the room and bring fresh linens once a week.

I went in July it was super crowded🤔 well no shit it was crowded with kids and people everywhere. JULY and August the busiest time to go, Oya December too. So, 1 less star for that is just downright lame. And that is why I always go in May or early June.

I don't understand some of your reviews...you give 4.5 stars for food but don't explain why the .5 star reduction. I'm not sure why you're going to a nice resort and not expecting children to be there or to pay money for extras? Maybe their pricing structure is different? A la cart style?

Weddingmoon 2014, had a magical stay. Rented a car and drove to several secluded spots all up and down the island. Married on the beach in Emerald Bay. Fair pricing considering it’s all inclusive. Highly recommend.

Great review. Most of Maui (and Hawaii in general) is about "nickel and diming" the guests. A condo is a must with BBQ grill access so you can make your own meals. Costco is always our first stop when we land. We buy steaks, potatoes, vodka, mixers, lunch meat, etc. Also, BYOB unless you're ok with $12 (plus tip) drinks made with bottom shelf spirits. We just got back from Maui last week and made the mistake of staying at the Hyatt (hotel, not condo). Big mistake. $800 per night and $20 previously frozen cheeseburgers. Want fries? Add $5. Big rip-off. Never again. Bottom line, go to Hawaii for the beautiful surroundings, not the food. You may find good restaurants, but they come at a heavy price. OK for a special occasion, but that's it. Also, always expect crowds. It is Hawaii and it's beautiful.

I think your review fails to mention the important fact that the Westin Oceana Resort Villas is primarily a timeshare resort. People buy time there. They get a week or more every year. They bring their families. We don't get charged extra for towels or room cleaning. Most of us own our own snorkel equipment or you can rent for any number of places around Maui for a very low price. It's easy to get a free lounge chair around the pool. Families can save money dining out by cooking in their unit or using any number of free outdoor grills around the pool. Of course, if you vacation in the middle of summer there will be families and kids. During the school year the resort is much quieter. It sounds like for what you're looking for, you would be better off at the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton.

I just stayed here and they have a single 1 bedroom suite you can stay in as well. Definitely recommend as it's really not that much more than the small rooms they have. Still would be nice to have a tub, but the rainfall showers are nice. I may post a video of the room later.
