i just won a full scholarship to study abroad next yr, it will be my senior year of high school and i’m scared and idk what to do. i’m so grateful for getting the scholarship but there is just so much i would miss here next year its such a huge decision

Make sure to research which programs you study with. I have heard of some programs have relocated kids and put many Asian students in areas that had high hate crime rates. We shouldn’t support a program that supports anti-Asian hate. Please stop Asian hate! So please make sure to research before you go.

Can you only study abroad for one semester or can you go for a full year? Or is that a different program?

It all depends on which program you choose and which university you go to. Typically, if you study directly through your university or college, you will go for one semester. Many students who choose independent or non-profit programs can go for a year. It also depends on what level you are studying it as well.

Kaela, you are right, studying abroad makes you meet so many people that you end up being friends with. I studied abroad twice and I have no regrets, it also allowed me to visit other countries. I would say to people to save at least 2-3k before studying abroad tho.

I'm Brazilian and I really wanna go to the US but it's soo expensive! Staying for 1 year there it will cost me 8,000 dollars (In Brazil we don't use dollars, we use reais. So in reals this will cost me more than 40,000). If you guys have any tips to save money please let me know.

If u wanna save money then going to college in the US isn't the choice lmao. American kids literally join the military fresh out of high school (if u join the military, u get college for free) so they can be the first in their family to go to college. Just go to Canada or Europe. Not to mention we don't have free healthcare, so if u get into an accident here then u will have to pay alot of money for the hospital, which will make ur study abroad trip way more expensive.

When I was a freshmen I didn’t get sick I only got a few allergies but I didn’t get really really sick but I took care of my roommates that got sick

That’s so crazy I am applying to study in Spain and I am from Australia. My university is telling me we should have around 15 thousand 😭😭 it’s not hard though because the government loans more than half but I’m just shocked that everyone is shocked about 5000!

It can be very expensive. And of course, in 2021 and beyond you have to consider inflation more than ever. I always tell my students that $15000 to $20000 USD (or the equivalent of that) is the sweet spot.
