This really sucks to see but at the same time I'm not particularly surprised it happened. You built next to a stream in a location where spring flooding looks to be quite common. This is going to probably happen every few years if not every year.

It is wrong to build a house underground and close to a lake, because there is always water coming underground. The house must be high above the ground, like the Chinese who always build their houses high, far from the ground, to avoid rain, snow, predatory animals, even earthquakes.👍🌷
