Μήπως σας είναι εύκολο να ανεβάσετε και τα τραγούδια «Νύχτωσε πάλι» , «Το θαμπό φανάρι» και «Το Διαζύγιο» από τον ίδιο δίσκο.

That's awesome he was brave enough to play that song at the time! I can't imagine how scary that would've been to do that back then as an Aboriginal.

Lyrics The Coloured Lad (1958) - Jimmy Little My name is Jimmy Little and from Wallaga Lake I came the charming little spot along the coast. With its mountains and the hills, lovely lace and weeping girls That make the sweetest music all the day. I’m an honest coloured lad and to work I’m not afraid To please you, I’d rather sing or dance. I’d do anything you say if you’d only name the day that you’d only give us coloured lads a chance. I came to Sydney trying hard to get some work, I traveled through the city night and day. I went from place to place with starvation in my face, And the people said no coloureds are employed. I’m an honest coloured lad and to work I’m not afraid To please you, I’d rather sing or dance. I’d do anything you say if you’d only name the day that you’d only give us coloured lads a chance. I’m an honest coloured lad and to work I’m not afraid To please you, I’d rather sing or dance. I’d do anything you say if you’d only name the day that you’d only give us coloured lads a chance.

Quite an innovative LP for its time, put together by a talented music teacher and group of girls with some delightful unknown little compositions and trending away from the use of the guitar as accompaniment and using instead the percussive sound of the tapping of the poi. The mezzo is an old-girl of this Anglican school; one of seven single-sex schools set up by the various churches in NZ for the education of the sons and daughters of Maoridom.

This was probably during the Hey day of China's Nationalist party stage in which Western taste greatly influenced music in places like Shanghai and Nanjing. It created the whole 20's 30's roaring 20s esque scene and its honestly beautiful to look back on and see the way the dressed and were. Stephen Chows Kung Fu Hustle paints a good picture of what that era was like!

I'm a teacher librarian in the primary school, so I teach K-6. I am currently teaching Australia as a Nation as part of our History topic. I will give the students (Year 5 & 6) an opportunity to research an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander who has made a contribution to Australia. The last time we did this topic, Jimmy Little was one of the most popular candidates to research. Of course I gave the students a few hints by letting them listen to Royal Telephone. He is just as popular as ever.
