I remember that day they had to evacuate part of new Brighton

It was a broken rail that caused the derailment. The fire was massive and ruined one of my favorite fishing spots for awhile. The crew, Engineer, Engineer Trainee and Conductor were completely faultless. My personal copy of the NTSB / FRA report is quite a good read.

This was a pretty bad fire, we had just crossed the New Bright / Beaver Falls bridge, within minutes of entering beaver falls is when the train derailed and caught fire. I tell you one thing, at night, the sky was completely lit up like it was day light. I have it on video tape some where.

@allenra530 wrong derailment, that was a CN ethanol train near Rockford IL.... communication failures on the part of CN mostly, although police could've been more proactive in alerting oncoming trains.

@skullking180x The county sheriff released a patrol car video after the NTSB investigation that showed a washed out culvert at the edge of the road crossing. About 10 feet of track was hanging in the air in the patrol car vidoe. I don't know why the department didn't notify the railroad in time. The video release said there was about 20 minutes between the deputy filming the washout and the train hitting it.

I remember this night. I thought the whole town was burning. The first casualty would have been that "skin house." The staging area for all the emergency workers was in the Foodland parking lot. Nothing but revolving red lights that night. Of course, during the cleanup, the crews destroyed BIG ROCK (Blue Rock). One more piece of history gone. Love the RATM track in the video. Thanks

i once had a betta that was pissed off cos i hadnt fed him the night before and i stuck my finger in to check the tempurature and he whaked me good with his tail lol

I was at Cinemark in Monaca when this happened. When I came out I heard people talking about it and headed over. I ended up helping with traffic control 'til early morning. I'm in Brighton Twp's fire department. We ended up being called down on the third day with our newest pumper to cover the cleanup because our truck has two foam tanks on it and the ground was saturated and they were afraid of flash fires caused by sparks. I sat there all day.

A steel beem on the bridge came loose and caused the rails to spread apart.

nothing to worry about, it's like a dog barking, cat hissing, doesnt hurt the fish as long as it doesnt exceed 10-20 mins aday

My betta fish, Ganko, is that same color. It kind of scares me when it flares out it's gills like that because it looks painful, I guess.

Well, sorry :-) That's the first thing someone is going to tell you when you ask about Betta, lol! I asked the same question when I first got my Betta (Violet, lol!) and I got the same answer.

Males can't be with other males/females. Bettas are aggressive.

It can be track work, the cars on the train, anything.. Sometimes the track isnt great in 1 spot as to another

CSX's Safety Standards are some of the best In America. CSX was reported as the United States 3rd Most RailRoad in Safety. Behind Amtrak And Norfolk Southern Railways. So i dont know where this " low safety standards " came from, but im sure they follow ALL safety guidelines stated by the FRA.

5:13 I'd regonize that spot anyday, CP BLOOM, PITT Line, right by the Amtrak Station. the Capitol Limited take the far track on the right to the CSX P&W Sub via to Washington D.C.
