Whats crazy is that lingonberries (Swedish Fish) and chocolate *do* go together pretty well. But I suppose getting very fruity natural chocolate wasn't a possibility with Oreo's budget.

Neat vid They're still good IMO. I didn't eat them much as a kid, maybe had them a handful of times in all my primary school years. But I saw the double-wide 510 Cal packs at a convenience store recently and thought why not? They taste like a highly processed fudge and don't much resemble a brownie to me, but still satisfying. I got about 1/4 through the bar and my forehead started sweating lol. I don't eat sweets much; it lasted me a few days. If I were on a serious hike and wanted energy that was easy to store and assimilate on-the-go, I might consider these.

the walnut ones were better. my grandparents used to keep these stocked for us in the 2000s, the walnut one and the cosmic brownie kind. i dont see the walnut kind in stores anymore :/

The calories per gram for each version is approximately the same. The vending machine version is almost 2x bigger at 114 grams a bar, versus the lined version at 62 grams a bar. The vending version lists a serving at 38 grams, versus the lined brownie at 62 grams a serving. Vending version has 4.47 calories per gram Lined version has 4.36 calories per gram But let's be honest, we're eating the whole bar no matter which version 🤣

Its a shame you didn't talk more about their predecessor, Fudge Brownies. They were staples of school lunches for years. They were the same brownies, but with chopped nuts on top. Cosmic Brownies just replaced the nuts with the colorful blobs which was a huge upgrade. I used to get Fudge Brownies in my school lunches and would pick all the nuts off before eating. When Cosmic Brownies appeared there was no going back.
