is this a modified keyboard? If I look up the Radias it looks way different. Super cool synth and great play btw!
@Treenote5 күн бұрын
Thanks! No, this is a stock Radias. Could just be the lighting and angle is different than most pictures online? I don’t think most online pictures convey how cool this synth really looks in person. I do have a Korg EMX-1 (not in use) sitting on the Radias tray on the right side of the synth too if you mean that.

@@willswitchcraft Thanks Will! I just got my Radias earlier this year. It needed a few repairs (broken volume pot, needed new tact switches). Thankfully my main encoder seems fine! I love the lights too. Combined with the aluminum chassis it’s probably the most spaceship / future looking synth I’ve used. You’ve had a few versions of the Access Virus right? How do you find the Radias compares to the Virus? That’s the other big digital synth I’m really interested in trying at some point
@willswitchcraft9 күн бұрын
agreed....the look is radical and original..........Quite a different instrument to the Virus line, but each synth has its own vibe, sound, workflow................whatever keeps you inspired is all you need

❤❤❤❤ nice! I like to get those airplane diving sounds with another synth part that has the glide turned all the way up... then. You can play any note, switch a few octaves down and play another note way lower or higher while holding both notes and it will slowy shift from one note to the next Its soooo fun!!

really nice, big thanks 🙏. I am just understanding all that music I loved 20 years ago, and that seemed so "incredible to program" (with my use of early 90's synths as a kid), was just made like this because of the specs of a few machines 😂. ❤

Thank you! Yes, it's amazing what people were making with grooveboxes before everyone started using DAWs. I still hear a lot of older electronic stuff and wonder how they did it.

I just was thinking digitakt is kind of nowadays emx-1 substitute. 😅 how do you feel about these both?
@Treenote21 күн бұрын
I definitely agree the Digitakt is kind of a modern EMX-1. Though, I guess technically it's more like the ESX-1 being that it's a sampler and the Syntakt (which I haven't tried) is more of en EMX-1 equivalent. To answer your question, I really like both, but for different reasons. The Digitakt feels more polished to me. The stuff I write with it always turns out a bit more "hi-fi", if you know what I mean. It also lets you have more control over your sequences. I also prefer the screen and buttons on the Digitakt and it's better for sequencing other gear. I find the EMX-1 more "mid-fi", or raw in sound. The sequencer isn't as nuanced but I find it immediate and fun to use. It's weird, I think the Digitakt is the "better" piece of gear but I often end up preferring the songs I write with my EMX-1. I think it has more character and some of the built in effects are really great (mod delay, grain shifter). In short, I love both but for different reasons.

@Treenote21 күн бұрын
Thanks! No, not at this point, sorry. I can try to answer any questions you have though! If it helps, for this track I wrote all the piano parts beforehand, recorded them in my DAW, then loaded them into the project to chop up. I'm reversing one of the piano progressions which is contributing a lot to the ambient vibe of the track.

@intuitivecatАй бұрын
Very nice. Are you sequencing the radius using the emx synth parts or just using clock sync?
@TreenoteАй бұрын
Thank you! No, all the sequenced synths are from the EMX-1 in this track. Only the pad sound that comes in halfway is the Radias. That said, I’m running the EMX-1 audio through the Radias input to add additional FX (filter, grain shifter, reverb) and they are clock synced so the grain shifter fx is on time with the song tempo.

@TreenoteАй бұрын

@TreenoteАй бұрын
Hey! Sorry for the slow reply. I couldn't find any tabs that are the same as the way I play it, but there are a few versions on ultimate guitar that should be a good starting point for figuring it out. If it helps, the main riff in the verses is just ascending a G major scale.

How to make a powerful, penetrating solo sound for progressive rock on Korg Radias?
@TreenoteАй бұрын
For prog rock? I'd try turning up the drive. I'd also explore using the built in distortion effect if you find the drive isn't enough boost.
