Nothing compares to the sound of a piano and group of singers.. particularly in an acoustic environment that’s probably been built primarily for this magical human endeavour x

Schubert is also the creator of the impromptu, an improvisational genre. Schubert composed eight such pieces, all of which are a touchstone for any pianist.

I'm sorry, but what does Brendel play there 12:26? These are eights followed by punctuated eigths. Not two punctuated eights. This breaks up the whole measures and ruins the catchy rhythm. He misplays those figures throughout the whole movement! Doesn't he understand this?

My favorite composer, one of my favorite symphonies and one of my favorite conductors.. This entire symphony is a masterpiece of the highest level, but I have to say that the last two movements are just on another level.

One of my absolute favorites from Papa Haydn's pen -- one can hear his faith and the joy he felt in praising God! (May we always do the same) Thank you for posting this splendid performance!

David Hurwitz brought me here. He loves this recording to death and I understand why. It’s such a regal version of it and I could imagine King George III of England or Napoleon walking out to it.

Very clinical, like so much playing of Mozart. Have a listen to Bartok and his wife play this for rhythmic, truly alive Mozart.

Along with the Dichterliebe part of this album, this is one of the best lieder albums out there. Skovhus is soulful and the sound engineering is masterful.

@@arnoldvdwaals i know what language it is. i am aware of two ways to pronounce it: classical (which no one uses in music), and ecclesiastical (which is basically Italian). this is neither. it sounds like how Germans would guess it is pronounced.
