That’s interesting. Normally in practice, I see the homeruns actually point to the panel it’s circuited to.

I am an electrician in England, looking to get into commissioning and surprisingly there isn't much information online, no real path to getting into that side of the industry other than just gaining the knowledge and slipping in somewhere. luckily on my current site I've managed to chat with the commissioning engineer and ill be the spark working alongside him at a water pumping station, I've installed the new system so will be nice to see the commissioning side of it now. your video has helped me a lot as its given me a nice overview of what to expect and generally whats expected along with the processes. thank you for taking the time to make this video. greatly appreciated.

@Tom Alison Try adjusting resume to fit what recruiters look for in commissioning. I just have interest in engineering.

@@bunnyman6321 yeah I will do. I recently got a decent reference letter from the Mechanical and Electrical project manager that states my interest in commissioning so hopefully that’ll go well with the CV. I think it’ll be persistence beats resistance on the job. I’ll keep pushing for it and hopefully get myself In. It is really interesting. The current guy at my site used to commission and decommission nuclear war heads ! Along with fighter jets. Really is amazing just how many components all working simultaneously it takes to keep systems running

@Tom Alison I'm not familiar with decommission, you done taught me something. I'm a look into that. Have you considered applying for commissioning jobs that require relocation? You could win that way too.

As a professional engineer, you are doing a fine and fantastic job. We get such a crash course on what we have to do by what is on fire in the office, it is nice to have a refresher on the basics to keep oriented. Thank you! I think you were confusing deferred submittals with shop drawing submittals. Like fire protection for residential, or fire alarm drawings for offices. That is my only comment that is critical. The window system for a large building could be deferred because it is manufacturer specific. Submittals for the design team from the contractor to the architect to the engineers are the following: plumbing fixture selections, equipment selections, lighting fixtures, terminal air devices, etc. Two different animals.

Thanks for sharing Melissa! What software you use to design; is it autocad, revit or something else?

Would you do one on reading commercial (or general) blueprints? Knowing where to find what information, symbol meanings, etc

I am transitioning from an electrical journeyman in the field to an electric project manager in the office. I’ve been really enjoying this series! Was it created for a post secondary course or did you do this in your spare time? Either way thanks for sharing!
