10:18 I know that it was shot long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, but he is kind of wrong here. He did created a small program, that does spell check. Yes, he constructed it using shell features (piping) and some pprepared unit blocks(unique, sort, lowercase, etc), and it took less efforts and can be changed on a fly, but it is still a program.

Video seems to be inspired by Marshall McLuhan ("The medium is the message"). Very 1969. It does show all the detail and research that goes into corporate imaging.

honestly if this was a public feature first like a payphone not something you'd get installed at home it would have taken off quicker. Not much need for a directory at home but I can see myself going down the street to check some numbers, write it down on a notepad and going home to call it

This is called the Fallacy Fallacy. The fact that someone uses bag logic as evidence of a claim has nothing to do with whether or not the claim is valid.

Fun fact: the development of oil-free, high vacuum turbomolecular pumps in the 1950s indirectly drove the development of thin film transistors, other thin film devices, and ultimately the semiconductor industry :)

Dint Sony invented the transistor Radio.
@whatistheevidence370
@whatistheevidence370 7 күн бұрын
The invention of the transistor radio was a collaborative effort involving multiple individuals and companies. The transistor itself, a crucial component, was invented in 1947 by John Bardeen, Walter Brattain, and William Shockley at Bell Laboratories. Building upon this innovation, Texas Instruments and Industrial Development Engineering Associates (I.D.E.A.) partnered to create the first commercially available transistor radio, the Regency TR-1, which was released in October 1954. Texas Instruments supplied the transistors, while I.D.E.A. handled the radio's assembly and marketing. The TR-1 was a significant milestone, marking the transition from bulky vacuum tube radios to portable, transistor-based devices.

The step office is a very noisy office with all those switches operating at the same time ...When Kennedy got shot all those line finders went up at the same time and stopped which overloaded the system and it got as quiet as a graveyard....Then we found out why....Everyone was trying to call family and friends and others at the same time to ask if they had heard about Kennedy getting shot which overloaded the system....The old step office had been around for a lot of years but was very reliable ....

The transistor is, by far, the most produced device in all of human history. An estimated 13 Sextillion transistors have been made since their invention in 1947. That is 1.6 Trillion transistors per human on earth!
