Hello all- As much as I would love to say that I played this solo, this is not me. I played solos on several tracks on this session, however this wasn't one of them. This is the great trumpeter Tim Stanley. Please do what you must to give my friend Tim the credit here. Thank you, Ray Vega

On some of the Columbia records like this one and JJ and Voices, they didn't do a good job recording JJs great sound and it sounds distorted.

This looks so incredibly difficult to sing - especially a Capella. Increases my appreciation of just how good they are!

was there a bass trombone used ?
@jktranscribing7224
@jktranscribing7224 5 ай бұрын
Nope! I just used false tones for anything under low E. It is not too bad when I can just punch in a false tone C, but a bass trombone would sound better.

Can you repost with Sibelius or Finale playing your transcription, instead of the actual Take 6 recording? Looks great.

Lyrics are always different from the original sheet music. But why do barbershop singers sing to "Mrs Olson" instead of "Mister Moto" which has alliteration?

I love the way John Allred sounds. He's right up there with Bill Watrous but with his own style. Really has perfect understanding of how to improvise on the trombone.

@@jktranscribing7224 I kind of want someone to re-record the solo -- same chord changes -- and, making as few alterations as humanly possible -- make the solo sound good. I feel like this is actually possible?
