On some of the Columbia records like this one and JJ and Voices, they didn't do a good job recording JJs great sound and it sounds distorted.

Nope! I just used false tones for anything under low E. It is not too bad when I can just punch in a false tone C, but a bass trombone would sound better.

Lyrics are always different from the original sheet music. But why do barbershop singers sing to "Mrs Olson" instead of "Mister Moto" which has alliteration?
