Wow - I just found out this dialog was (basically) taken from a Jimmy Kimmel interview of the person behind Gawker Stalker from 2007: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aF7Ep5Shp7eIl7c

Newsroom was almost prophetic. This aired 12 years ago... and now the hyenas are in charge on social media and elsewhere... Who needs a zombie invasion? We are already giving up our minds and intellects to the lowest bidder.

Such a brillinat and intelligent show. So much respect for Sorkin - his stuff is incredible.

Not just incredible stuff, but more relevant today than when he wrote it. Many news shows have become propaganda machines, and while their bias is obvious, it fools many people. It is an incredible threat and could cost us our democracy.

I have always been a fan of Olivia Munn, since her days on Attack of the Show. She is definitely one person who deserves more recognition. Very talented, very funny. I would love to see her in more stuff.

If this exact interview happens now, the interviewee will go on social media and rant about how his freedom of speech and capitalist venture was abused by the woke media, his app will get hundreds of thousands of new users, and the interviewer will be called a woke toxic feminist (and worse) and receive death threats (and worse), her personal info and photoshopped pictures shared on 4chan, telegram etc.

This is pretty much a copy of Jimmy Kimmel interviewing an editor from Gawker. She pretty much says word for word what the guy in the show interview said. Now of course Sloan is more intense and more scathing than Kimmel was, because she is a written character, but it is pretty much this exact scene.
