I have a problem of trying to hold the breath back with my throat. For years i had diagnosed myself with mtd cuz it felt tiring to even speak. Any tips on how to remember just release the air instead of trying to grab it
@MikeBryant1Ай бұрын
@@JordanPringle - Hey Jordan 👋🏽. When you inhale, can you feel your rib cage expand? If so, when you do a sustained hiss (sssssssss), are you able to slow down how fast your rib cage returns to its original position?
@JordanPringleАй бұрын
@@MikeBryant1 Yes, but what's holding back the breath if it's not your throat
@MikeBryant1Ай бұрын
@@JordanPringle - Two main areas that hold back your breath back for singing: 1 - Your intercostal muscles. These are the muscles in between your rib cage. The rib cage houses your diaphragm. On the exhale, as you sing, your diaphragm ascends and sends air from your lungs, through your vocal folds to produce sounds. To slow down the ascent of the diaphragm, which therefore slows down the movement of air (aka, holding back breath pressure), you need to slow down the collapse of your rib cage. To slow it down, basically, try to keep it expanded while singing. Do this and breath gets held back more efficiently. HOWEVER. That’s only part of the process. 2 - Your vocal folds. They vibrate. They open, close, open, close, open, close, etc, rapidly. When they close, that also holds back breath pressure. NOT your throat as in the neck muscles overly tensing, but the vocal folds, which are in your larynx (which is part of your throat). If your vocal folds don’t seal up efficiently during the closed phase, it will be very difficult to hold breath back. The rib cage (intercostal muscles) + vocal folds. Learn to control those two, and you will sufficiently hold breath back.

Can nalsa help someone to reach high note?????
@checkoffgames6 ай бұрын
No. It's about lung control. Pull your stomch in, drop out your abdomen, bottom back part of the head in line with the top of the spine. Stretchier lungs make easier sound - rowing, swimming, intense hiking, biking, anything to beef up the lungs will make your posture more natural and open your voice up, out, and down. The clearest, loudest voices of any throat type belonged to swimmers, yogis, hikers, or otherwise very active, strong people. Good luck on building your voice! :)
@MikeBryant1Ай бұрын
Hey! “Nalsa” as in nasal? Nasal resonance? If you’re having difficulty hitting high notes, first step is determining what the issue is. Generally speaking, hitting high notes healthily, with sustainability & longevity, requires: reducing excessive tension at the neck/jaw/throat/tongue balancing the breath pressure with the major respiratory muscles (rib cage, lats, abdomen, pelvis) coordinating sufficient compression of the vocal folds (often referred to as cord closure) Those are a few factors involved. Starting with trills can be effective. As for nasal influence, we do need nasal resonance and it’s helpful. But like most things, only in balance 🙂
