You're right. But I can say, from a mass manufacturing electronic production line electronic technician experience, made in USA quality is far better. China will use chips from knock off vendors wherever it can. But it will still work, most of the time. Just don't want that on flight safety equipment at extreme environments.

Excellent job. The back section with the two rollers can be taken out of the unit by removing seven screws in the back plus the exhaust port screw and then carefully lifting it up as you separate it from the stove unit at the bottom right -- it's tight but can be done. (The stove is attached to the bottom only at the front so you can move the rear of it a bit.) Then you can much more easily access the rollers, which were greatly overtightened at the factory -- I used a short water pipe on my 3/8" breaker bar to break the nuts loose as I had no luck simply tapping with a hammer. As soon as they are broken free the nuts easily spin off by hand. The socket size is 17 mm not 5/8" (too small). The tightness seems due to the distortion of the washers on both sides of the flimsy frame. The frame bent slightly at one roller location as I was forcing the nut loose and needed to be flexed back into its original position. I believe this is not a big problem because the drum should keep the rollers in proper orientation. The aluminum unit in the front at the bottom that joins the screen filter to the blower needs to be inside the frame at the bottom; the frame is actually bent outward a bit at that point. The only way it can be secured to the blower is to attach this unit before completing the installation of the front frame piece with its four screws because it needs to be raised up onto the rectangular port at the filter side and the frame gets in the way at the blower side.

A couple of things that were not obvious to me: 1. at 20:29, that metal rod that extends can also twist and you may have to twist it to get it into position. 2. at 19:24 that little piece can be safely moved back if your door isn't flush. 3. 17:02 Beware the metal shavings. I didn't see this part of the video until after I finished that part. 4. 5:51 The door can be really tough to open. I thought I was going to break something. And it sounded like glass creaking. If you pull the plastic part out on the bottom and tug really hard the door will come loose. I had to do the same on the top. The door finally pulled open so hard it shook off the middle plastic also.

I appreciate the effort but this is a pretty terrible instructional video as far as misinformation goes. You're intentionally using the wrong gauge line and you're not supposed to lock it into the channel at the end, preventing it from auto-feeding properly. If you want to do it that way, more power to you, but it's not the correct way. Anyone reading this comment, please look at one of the other videos on YT that show how to restring a B&D spool properly.
@becausestuffbreaks
@becausestuffbreaks 9 күн бұрын
I'm going edit this so it will show to use the correct size. It's not misinformation. I show exactly what happens when you use the wrong size string. You have auto-feed issues. I was just using string I had laying around. People need to watch my other restring video linked in the description.

Very well done video! I used it to access and troubleshoot my dryer, then used your parts link to get the parts needed for repair. To lube the shafts of the new roller wheels and idler pully, I used a very thin film of high temp resistant grease for brake caliper pins to make them spin more smoothly. To help keep all of the similar but not identical screws straight, used a strip of refrigerator seal magnet material & lined 'em up left to rt as I took them off. This made re-assembly 2 days later very easy with no guessing about which fastener went where.
