Neat Neat Neat was one of the first punk songs that he ever heard- it sounded like a fight (one of his favourite pastimes at that time), and it changed his life. As he said in the interview, "Before punk, there was nothing."

????? Yes I know he was on the drums most of the time but he did leave around this period just after Music for Pleasure was recorded. They were then joined briefley by Dave Berk and then John Moss. Having followed the Damned for years and being a drummer myself ( Rat being my drumming model ) it doesn't sound quite like Rat here could be wrong but ???

I'm not narrow minded at all babe, I know what I saw and what I saw was more new wave than anything else and they themselves admitted it on stage that they were more into playing 80's new wave than anything else. This is the only song in their set from that night that resembled anything "punk". And they may be the "friendliest and most helpful" band in the country, but that night they were a right bunch of pretentious c.nts. sorry if this (obviously) upsets you ;)

You must have caught them on a bad day as they are one of the friendliest and most helpful bands in the country. Plus how can a band that were there from the beginning be less Punk unless you have a very narrow view of What "Punk" is supposed to be or was . I'd hate to see what you think of The Slits or Subway Sect or Magazine :)

My band, Deep Reduction( with Deniz Tek) opened for these guys in Balbo Spain. They were the headliners, some bigass festival in a giant open building. Hung out with THE CAPTIAN for awhile backstage before we played( like 30bands on the bill ) he was pretty cool, ate food drank beers together, had fun. D V was a dick the whole time! Like I said the CAPTIAN was nothing but cool.

I saw them yesterday and I have to admit it was very disappointing! More new wave than punk and after bumping into them backstage, they didn't come across as very nice people either.
