@@wailinaungfilms By all means. The adapter is still a very useable tool, as are the old EF lenses. But the thing that gets me is using old designs of lenses on a technically advanced camera body. The RF lenses are designed for the mirrorless lineup, so they are smaller, sharper and in many ways better. The only thing killing them is the cost and the fact there is no serious RF mount alternative available (ie. Sigma, Tamron).

Hi, hope you read this. I film my videos in my Canon R7 in Clog3 and when I do, no matter in what light conditions, daylight and night, the camera introduces me a terrible color noise… Do you have the same issue? Even shooting in his native ISO 800.. Maybe because the codec of clog3 in that camera that is H.265? I really don’t know. Hope you can answer, thanks! 🙏

@@X.11.11 Clog3 always introduces some noise, as the base ISO is 800 and R7 is a crop frame camera. Do you have an example clip I could check out?

I don't understand what's the big deal. Simply buy the mount for your old lens, problem solved. Is there a huge difference in the quality of the shots?

It is a very rare lens, I spent a good while looking for it myself. If you can’t find one, the Sigma 50-100mm is also a magnificent lens 👍🏻

Sure, if it works for you. I would not spend $1500 on an EF lens these days. Second hand you might find it cheaper, though.

Great video👌. Without getting too complicated, I just bought the R7. I'm really just interested in outdoor, wildlife, and close ups of smaller macro size life. Only have about two weeks of experience with photography, and this set up. It cam packaged with the 18 - 150 and it is really great. But I need to more on the telephone side. What would be a resonable addition to my set up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

@@rossy_0594 Entre estos dos lentes, creo wue el 18-35mm f/1.8 es más nítido, ya que no tiene un rango focal tan amplio como el 18-50mm f/2.8. Al reducir la apertura del 18-35mm a f/2.8, la imagen es más nítida. Puedo considerar hacer un video comparativo sobre la nitidez entre estos dos lentes si puedo enconrar el 18-35mm en préstamo. Pero ten en cuenta que el Sigma 18-35mm es un lente mucho más grande y pesado que el nuevo 18-50mm f/2.8.

I’ve heard many different things about the iso grain, some have said 3200 and 6400 iso has little to no grain, any experience with it for photos?

ISO noise is present when shooting with high ISO. I shot a wedding party in a very dark room and was forced to use 6400 ISO and then it was clearly visible but not in a disturbing way. Then again, when I was shooting a solo guitar gig with high ISO on an R5, the high ISO grain looked worse for me. And the ISO noise can be reduced very nicely in LR these days, and if you have access to Topaz AI, even better. Just takes some work though.

@@HatimJawad I misspoke on that, as I was meant to talk about parfocal, meaning that does the lens lose focus when zoomed in or out :) In my defence, we had just been testing out the Sigma 50mm f/1.2 ART which has basicly zero focus breathing, and clearly it stuck to my mind 😄

I indeed heard many youtuber stated a lack of selection of Canon RF mount lens and their heavy cost. I wonder why not using EF adaptor, so that I can apply many old EF good lens as well as many third party lens. So is this really an issue? or did I miss anything. By the way, there will be sigma and Tamron lens for RF mount, maybe end of this year

There is nothing wrong with using the old EF lenses with the adapter. But the old lenses in many cases are heavier, bigger and the new RF lenses have better optics as the lens is closer to the sensor. And pairing up a brand new, state of the art body with a 15 year old lens is like buying a new car but changing the 200,000 mile driven engine to it.

Sigma has now released the first RF lens, an 18-50mm 2.8. In November 2024 there'll be: 10-18mm 2.8 16mm 1.4 23mm 1.4 30mm 1.4 56mm 1.4 I think we're good 🙂

Hi! Rolling shutter has not been an disturbing issue for me as when I was using the R7, I was mostly working with the mechanical shutter.

I have to wait over two minutes for the video to actually start, really boring. Then, you forget you need to multiply the focal length by the crop factor: (35mm x 1.6 x 2) = 112. So, the minimum shutter speed at 35mm should be 1/125 for sharp pictures. Furthermore, 24 fps does give the "cinema" look, but for me it creates too much motion blur with the 180º rule (1/50). I like to shoot video at 30 fps and 1/60, I find it gives sharper results and you still get a natural enough motion blur.

Well, it is my way of making videos, terribly sorry if it bothers you. With my photography (and IBIS included), the basic rule has been working just fine, so I am speaking from my experience. Use which ever framerate suits you, as long as it is as close as possible to 180’. I use 24fps or 25fps and then it is 1/50.

I mainly shoot at 24fps so I don’t need to worry about the crop 👍🏻 and if I shoot at 60fps, then it’s just there and that’s what I got to work with. :) I have tested the Sigma 18-50mm, video coming soon-ish :)
