Off topic but I love how the Korean sensei here imitates Vergil wearing Japanese hakama. It’s like no boundaries between culture no racial hatred, a true samurai respecting ancient culture and of course video games.

I think what I appreciate most about Shigurui is the insane super-human strength needed to perform these techniques. To think someone could develop their body to kill by striking with their wrist let alone grip a 2-3 pound blade between their fingers and effortlessly cut flesh and bone with such a grip.

@noire592019 күн бұрын
@@kinako_mochiko I'll tell you in more detail Joseon hwando swords developed from ring-shaped swords, just like Japan This is a sword that was popular in ancient East Asia It's a one-handed sword about 6 to 70cm Like the European Longsword, single-edged blade exists anywhere in Asia Korean Sword in the early Joseon Dynasty is a one-handed sword with a short handle It's a one-handed sword that was strongly influenced by Mongolia It is characterized by attaching strings to the handle and tying it to the wrist so that cavalry does not miss it After the Japanese invasion, the blade length and handle became longer under the influence of Katana, which specialized in infantry warfare At this time, the Japanese sword was highly valued in Joseon Technically, KATANA's 'kissaki' does not exist in Korean Sword Instead, it shows a streamlined blade And it was a one-handed sword, so it operated like a Roman Gladius or a Viking Sword Paired with shields in the battle line, or as an auxiliary arm of all the soldiers Because Joseon used a lot of bows I learned both Japanese swordsmanship and Joseon swordsmanship, and I am very interested in world swords Swords in East Asia were affected by each other If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask Also, 'some' Korean blacksmiths are restoring hwando sod based on Japanese swords We distinguish between hwando Sword and katana, but there is a lot of loss of data Because Joseon didn't value swords If you want to see a real hwando Sword, you'd better look it up at the museum Personally, I envy Japan for maintaining its tradition

LOL bruh Korea had swords before Japan even existed as a country.
@kinako_mochiko17 күн бұрын
@@noire5920It is a quibble to claim that "Hwando is inspired by Mongolian swords, so katana is not a reference" for swords that look like katanas. It is also an insufficient theory to claim the uniqueness of Hwando just because the tip is different. If this theory is accepted, all imitations cannot be controlled. Any kind of curved sword can be claimed as Hwando. I saw some Hwando on the Internet. Some look like katana, while others have a distinctly Korean culture. Hwando does not seem to have any fixed characteristics. There are probably characteristics of each era, and each artist seems to have different characteristics. However, I feel that it is questionable to claim that a sword that clearly imitates a katana is not a katana by using the origins and name of Hwando. That is my opinion. There are certainly Hwando that give a sense of Korean culture. It seems foolish to deny all Hwando. Thank you.

Shigurui best anime about samurai ever made
@nathaninostroza765513 күн бұрын
If the anime have had Gonzaemon s battle with Irako, Fujiki s arm severed, and final Irako vs Fujiki animated, it'd be the Best samurai anime. The story s really samurai, not shonen, but as for samurai choreography, Rurouni Kenshin trust and betrayal and Ninja Scroll the movie are on another level. Btw Irako Seigen s a character any mangaka could kill to have created themselves. The story telling in Shigurui secures it's identity, wich was the greatest decision by the mangaka, also his drawing designs are really good. But i ve seen better drawing, even current Kenshin manga have Watsuki outdoing his drawing skills, designs, characters, location and what not.

@@noire5920 I still think that spins were unnecessary, from experience, spinning won't make more powerful the attacks, you must have a good structure and move your body (specially the hips) just enough to have a strong cut, and you won't be exposing your back to get killed. I just understand it when using greatswords or polearms when fighting more than one enemy.
@noire5920Күн бұрын
@@chopy2013 I think there's a misunderstanding I learned both Korean swordsmanship and Japanese swordsmanship First, "Bonguk gum" was made into a training method by combining various movements In other words, it's a training method that makes the movements used in practice flow naturally The spin I was talking about was the ankle-pelvis-upper rotation The spin you're talking about is a continuous motion made for quick airlift and change of direction Like the Roman army, the Joseon army fought a battle that valued the battle lines That's why the moves used in practice are more concise
