I was just shy of being 4 years old living in Ormond Beach Florida when the eye of the storm came over my house. My mom young and not a native of Florida took us out to see what it looked like. When my dad went out side screaming to come inside moments later my mom me dad and brother were in a closet hearing the storm outside . The sound of the roof on the other side of our house being ripped off is a sound I will remember my whole life. We were lucky we didn't have to much damage but we spent the better part of the storm in the closet singing and reading books. So grateful we survived. Never heard of this movie till now thanks for posting!

I am from the Mississippi/Alabama Gulf Coast. I have went through every hurricane frome Camille in '69 to Katrina in '05. The 2 worst i can remeber was Fredrick in '79 and Ivan in '04. I left for Katrina but the house i lived in during Ivan had the front door caved in when a oak tree was split in half by a tornado and half fell through the front of the house. We lived about 30 min fom the florida/bama line and we took in the front half of the storm before in took a slight turn and the florida pan handle took most the back side behind the eye of the storm. In Fredrick we took the whole storm. Front, eye and back. We were stuck for days while people cut the trees out to get to us. Hurricanes are total nightmares. Scary as hell!

I can’t believe I found this, trying to watch it before making a statement. I was 3 miles from ground zero, it was a frightful night. The winds were the worse- they made the houses sway, the pressure was unbearable- I can still feel bad storms - you get pressure in your head. I heard we had 230 Windsor was a cat 5; they thought possibly higher but stopped reporting to us. No water & electricity for 1 days- the huge trees over by the fire station on 82nd & Bird we’re holding a tree in its branches, dangling over the Main Street . Neighbor sat vigilant to keep looters away- it was funny

Laugh out loud. So Bryan Norcross made a cameo in the movie. Cool. It is disturbing how much time has passed since the hurricane went through. There seems to be endless nonsense by those who have gone through storms who had the most extreme experience. Andrew as pretty bad but regardless it does not lessen the experiences obtained through living through other storms. They are all damn scary. Andrew was just one more.

Thanks. This was a great find. Very realistic presentation of the approach, the landfall, and the immediate aftermath of a major hurricane. What made Hurricane Andrew more devastating than it might have been was its intensification from tropical storm to category 5 in such a short period of time. South Florida was caught largely unprepared and then the absolute worst happened, a direct hit from one of a only a very few category 5 hurricanes to make U.S. landfall.

Brian Norcross clearly knew what he was talking about .. but that station management should have not only been fired but prevented from ever working in broadcasting again.
