it is extremely common for drummers to have a second snare.
@SquishyJoshy2 күн бұрын
@@brudzool Hi, I don’t know what you’re trying to achieve by saying that (apologies if you don’t mean it this way, but it sounded a little condescending), while it might be “common”, it’s more often a stylistic choice. Everyone knows a standard/basic drum kit would not normally be built with a second snare. I mean pick any drum store online that have a base kit. You will not get a second snare with it. If you visit churches or venues around the globe, their “house” kit probably doesn’t have a second snare either. I’m just saying, it might feel like a common thing, for say a session musician who wants very specific sounds, but otherwise, I can think of a bunch of other drums or cymbals I would prioritise over a second snare.
@brudzoolКүн бұрын
@@SquishyJoshy anytime someone says the opposite to you it is condescending? Wow. Actually, yes you are correct, a bog standard drumkit for a new drummer or the simplest form does indeed not have a second snare drum. But this is a top level drummer who got the gig to play with rose from black pink. He is not the drummer that plays with black pink but obviously he is good enough. You also said she is playing with this band for the first time, but it is not the first time I have seen this drummer. He is a professional. Professional drummers have all kids of drum set ups and mostly NOT stylistic, it is for practicality. Second snares are common place. Filling the space to the left of the high hats is usually a second snare. It is everywhere. I am a drummer, and I watch a lot of professional drummers. to hear you talk like it was rare was really weird. Like he was some kind of newbie that has never played before. So I commented. That doesn't make me think I'm better than you, you read it with a condescending tone because you don't like being corrected. You will be ok. You were wrong about something. There is so much more I could unpack about what you said, but we shall leave it here.
@SquishyJoshyКүн бұрын
@@brudzool I appreciate your passion for drumming, and it’s clear you’ve got a lot of knowledge and experience in the field. That said, I was honestly taken aback by the tone of your comment-it felt unnecessarily condescending, whether or not that was your intent. I’m always open to learning and being corrected, but how we communicate matters. For context, my observations in the video weren’t intended to undermine the drummer’s skill or professionalism. I wasn’t critiquing him as a “newbie” or implying he wasn’t capable-I’m well aware he’s a seasoned session musician. My remarks were just surface-level thoughts, not a deep analysis. As someone who’s been around drummers and the live music scene for a long time (even as a casual drummer myself), I respect the diversity in setups and understand that second snares are common in professional kits. If I misunderstood or misspoke, I’m happy to acknowledge that-I’m human, after all. However, I would’ve appreciated if your correction had been phrased in a way that felt more constructive and less dismissive. I’ve worked hard to create a positive, respectful space on this channel, and comments like this risk detracting from that. I hope moving forward, we can have discussions that feel collaborative and uplifting rather than critical for the sake of it.
@brudzoolКүн бұрын
@@SquishyJoshy I am amazed at how much you extracted from one sentence saying that a second snare is common. What I hear is...'moving forward if you don't agree with what I said, don't say anything.' Of course, tone is very important, but usually I take text at face value and give benefit of the doubt. Gotta get over the 'feelings' SJ and allow others to disagree. You seem like a cool dude, with good quality content, but not everyone will agree with you always.
@SquishyJoshyКүн бұрын
@@brudzool Hey, I appreciate your perspective, and I also want to say I’m sorry if I came across the wrong way earlier. Like I mentioned before, I didn’t mean to assume anything about your tone or intent-maybe I’ve just been a bit on edge recently, so I misread things. To clarify, I’m not saying people can’t disagree with me-that’s far from it. I’ve been corrected many times on other videos and have genuinely appreciated the feedback because it helps me grow and improve. It’s more about how those disagreements are communicated that I think makes a difference. Anyway, I understand where you’re coming from now, and I really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to share them, and I hope we can keep things chill moving forward. All the best! And hey, I know this conversation started off a little bumpy, but regardless, I hope you have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the holiday season!

So bit o' trivia - the solo bass ending is a callback to The Warning's first original hit, "Survive" - a song with a similar theme of independence and defiance. That one's worth a listen. And keeping with your ideas about the fast-writing-to-a-deadline; check out The Warning's collab with Canadian R&B chanteuse Alessia Cara, on a cover of Metallica's classic "Enter Sandman" - they did it all in a week, to meet the deadline for Metallica's Blacklist album.

That's fair, I think it's a decent pop rock song that is respectfully giving each member of each band a little moment to shine within the context of the genre. Their brief probably wasn't to create some like epic progressive rock/metal anthem while I'm sure they could and may even do so when they hopefully collab again in future. While this song might not appeal to some, I'm sure they thought that it was a good song to suit the collaboration between the two bands. It just probably won't be for everyone (and that's okay).
@zer0tzer06 күн бұрын
They did perform it LIVE but it wasn't released. It was leaked and those that did show it got copyright strikes. My theory is it's because Saiki hit a not badly. They maybe could have fixed it in Post, however since it got leaked, it wasn't just the audience there that heard it, so there was no point in releasing it anymore. Who knows? Anyway, it's out there.
@SquishyJoshy4 күн бұрын
Might have to do a little search later :D haha. Someone else in the comments was saying that it may have been because the song was unreleased at the time. So potentially there might have been some kind of embargo on it preventing people from sharing it early and maybe they wanted the song to be released first before people post any footage or reactions of it. Not sure. I'm just speculating 🤔
@ALAN_COX6 күн бұрын
I don't think this is the best representation of either band but I think they did a good job of giving each band member a chance to shine.

It's less "battle of the bands" and more "musical conversation" like what you'll see between MISA & Kanami. Also, as a theatre kid, I have to give MAD props to costuming here. Watch again & keep an eye on how well The Warning's outfits compliment their counterparts in BAND-MAID. Dany, in particular, matches both Saiki and Kanami.
@SquishyJoshy4 күн бұрын
That's probably a better way to phrase it. I didn't necessarily mean a battle between the entire bands I just meant more of the individual members, but yes, conversation is probably a better term. Oh yes, and great attention to detail, thanks for pointing that out. Love when the costumes are thought out as well.

Ringo and Greg Bisonette pull off the 2 drummer thing extremely well in Ringo's All Star Band, probably my favourite pairing to listen to and of course there's King Crimson's 2/3/4 drummers which if I'm really honest are probably the best there is where multiple drummers are concerned.

The collaboration between BAND-MAID and The Warning on “Show Them” had its roots in 2022 when the two bands met for the first time at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California. The Warning, long-time admirers of BAND-MAID, connected with them backstage, and the idea of collaborating began to take shape. In December 2023, Kanami, BAND-MAID’s guitarist, sent The Warning a rough demo for “Show Them.” Kanami aimed to venture into new musical territory, crafting a song that would bring out fresh aspects of both bands’ styles. Miku, BAND-MAID’s rhythm guitarist, worked on the lyrics with The Warning, blending ideas from both groups to refine the song’s message. The collaboration initially unfolded through Zoom meetings and shared drafts, a unique process for both bands. However, the real breakthroughs came in June 2024, when The Warning visited Japan. Working in person allowed the bands to fine-tune the track together, despite the challenges of language and cultural differences. Both groups contributed ideas that stayed true to their individual sounds while pushing creative boundaries. The song was performed live in Tokyo, featuring all eight members of BAND-MAID and The Warning on stage. If you are interested in behind-the-scenes content, The Warning documented their experience in Japan in their vlog “Our First Time in Japan with Band-Maid,” offering a closer look at how the collaboration came together and the camaraderie between the two bands.

Interesting, yeah as I essentially mentioned in the video I feel like the style they achieved as a merged band was definitely different but also had elements from each band at the same time. Another comment just before yours suggested they're considering doing more collaborations together. I'm wondering if this was just them sussing out a different sound and seeing how people would receive it. Maybe they have a whole bunch of ideas they want to test out. I'l definitely have to look into that vlog in my own time, thank you for sharing/commenting. :)

So TW and B-M met at a US festival in 2022 and said they should collaborate. They got that opportunity this year. TW went to Japan and played three shows, one with Band-Maid. TW traveled to Japan two weeks early to write/compose/record with B-M and record a MV. They then played it together at their one concert together. In an interview on the PRS channel, Kanami and Dany said that more collaborations are in the future. Kanami wants B-M to go to Mexico and and Dany wants the collab to be in Spanish. Dany and Kanami play similar PRS guitars in the same color. There is now a behind the scenes video of the two bands together on TW's YT channel.

Thank you for featuring Hagane (pronounced HA-ga-neh). They have to be considered one of the hot, up and coming groups, though they had to go through a major reboot in 2023. They were originally a five-piece with dual leads; they have recently re-formed as a four piece (more on that below). The initial lineup came together in 2018, just as they were all finishing high school. Founding guitarist Sakura had been posting metal covers on youtube since she was 14, and gained notoriety as a technical beast with a taste for ferocious shredding. That is how most of the other band-members found her. Original lineup: Vocal: Chiemi Guitar : Sakura Yoshida (also writes and arranges most of the music) Guitar : Mayto Bass : Sayaka Drum : Kanako Takahashi (b. 2001) In 2019, Chiemi left and was replaced by Uyu. The band released three concert DVDs and a full-length album (“Code 9021”) during her tenure. From that lineup: “Soul Beats”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWmxhYWAlN6Hrrs The rhythm line seamlessly melds rock and funk throughout. The guitar solo is classic jazz fusion, but with distortion. The heavy use of minor and diminished scales gives it a vaguely middle-eastern vibe, but jacked up to searing intensity. “Super Villan” kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3TUq6Bmo7qrmK8 Huge guitar duel, with give and take and a lot of experimental ideas. “Black Cult” kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnTLlnxsYrKKnrs From their most recently released album, another with lots of musical ideas, more guitar dueling, and powerful vocals from Uyu. In early 2023, the band announced the departures of three members-Uyu, Mayto and Kanako. They spent the next year rebuilding. They have re-formed as a four-piece, with the already famous Junna on drums. Junna was previously one of the original members of Kakumei (later rebranded as Trident), and has a popular youtube channel where she posts hyperactive solo drum covers of metal songs. New vocalist Nagi has replaced Uyu. This is her first professional gig. Hagane 3.0: Guitars: Sakura Bass: Sayaka Drums: Junna Vocals: Nagi Hagane are clearly playing in a similar space as groups like Mary’s Blood, Bridear, Nemophila and Lovebites-melodic, hard, heavy and technical. Early on, however, they developed their own signature sound, built around exotic scales, syncopated rhythms and the aforementioned high-octane shredding. Their songwriting is mature, far beyond what you should be able to expect from a bunch of people this young. The new lineup have released an EP, “Life Goes On”, with five tracks including an instrumental. Despite not having the dual attack, it looks like they haven’t lost a step-Junna is insane as ever on drums, and Sakura is just on fire. Here are two tracks: “Tengagoken” (official video): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZmwkqCElKl1hZY and “Hero Time”, (official live): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6aseKeHg8qmrpI Other bandmembers: Uyu formed her own band, which largely focuses on covers of other metal groups, especially Babymetal. She and Mayto also co-founded a band called Mana Diagram, with three other members. They have all worked on other projects. Kanako is also an elite musician and has been in a couple of bands since leaving Hagane.
