Is “Blind playthrough” supposed to mean this was your first ever time fighting him? Cause you both went through a fog gate and dodged certain attacks that would be literally impossible without knowing how they work. Impressive fight regardless, but the title is very misleading at best and a flat out lie at worst.

@Ze_N00B I was able to beat her casually in several attempts, intentionally tanking some fireballs, with only 2-3 mistakes (dashed into an attack, then missed an easy parry). If I do more attempts/practice I'd probably be able to beat her without getting hit, so any kind of health upgrades or healing are not really a concern. She did spawn and spin on me. I'm sure there's a simple solution to it. Maybe jumping while she's not on screen will bait out a different move on spawn. Projectiles while she attacks - I prioritize parrying, because any fireball behind me gets negated during the parry knockback. I think I did it several times in this video.

@@lstr8331 The mistakes you made wouldn't have been so forgiving and the fight would have ended in her favor. The title says: "I was told she was hard." yet the gameplay and gear shows that what made your victory possible was your stats. The challenge of the fight comes from the annoyance of having to dodge randomly directed and constantly tracking projectiles while also fighting an enemy that requires proper positioning to deal with. Multiple of her attacks are designed for you to already be standing in a certain location to avoid them in time, such as the ground sweeping attack that summons fire pillars, which forces you to be close and jump over or slide through the glowing ball to avoid, as if you stand too far away, you'll just be caught in her flames. The fireballs constantly block some part of the arena and often that part of the arena is the only way to avoid her attack. Other times, the fireballs encroach on you forcing you to jump, after which she can catch you while airbornes or on landing before you can block. Your video did not demonstrate how to avoid such challenges. Your video showed you fumbling your way to victory by reducing the difficulty, by getting rid of the excessive damage that makes her fight so hard. A hard fight isn't one that requires you to accomplish a challenge, but one that punishes you for minor errors. You made a lot of errors.

@@Ze_N00B My point is: in this fight, I made 2-3 unforced mistakes. Meaning, in other attempts, those hits wouldn't have happened, at my casual skill level (this is my first and only playthrough). There was nothing difficult about those mistakes. Me dodging into her wasn't because she did a difficult move, she was just spinning in place. Me not parrying her wasn't because she delayed/switched her attack, the timing is the same every time. I simply made unforced mistakes that were EASILY avoidable, regardless of gear.

So is this boss meant to be fought with the dragon-hunter great katana ? Like Yhorn with the storm ruler or Rykard with the serpent-hunter ? I tried this boss with regular melee weapons and as much as I like the spectacle he really doesn't give enough openings if you go after his head and if you go under him he spams his fire breath attack. So I used that weapon with its skill and it was so much more fun and easy. When you float in the air you sometimes evade his aoe and it deals so much damage, it's like he's meant to be fought that way

You sound exactly like a noob who’s trash in game. Otherwise you’d have known better lad.. It IS actually hard to dodge all that successfully, especially with stamina lowering down with each dodge roll. The dodging mechanics in Elden Ring is quite horrible, because ONE button does too many things. There’s always some delay. So You need to be extremely accurate with the DIRECTION, otherwise they’ll ALWAYS land the hit on you. Their REACH is insane

Radagon was cool at first, but once you get the hang of him, he becomes Genichiro - an annoying intro fight to the last boss. To prevent him from spamming his lazers and stuff, I stay close. He has several moves that can be parried, and dodged through. When he's vulnerable, I stick to one attack and wait for his response. As for the Elden Beast, he's just like the Sekiro dragon boss - dodge his projectiles, get close, and do big damage. When he does that bullet hell move, I have no idea what to do but to make as much distance as I can from the beast - this is to avoid it from doing another BS move while I'm too busy dodging a zillion other projectiles. This is also the first time I encountered multiple rings appearing on the ground (5:23), didn't know that skill had a power-up. I tried using Maliketh's sword on him, since lore-wise they wanted to keep Destined Death away. It does BIG BOI damage in one use, even more than Queen's Black Flame!
@lstr8331
@lstr8331 2 жыл бұрын
In phase 1, I feel more comfortable on medium weight, the dodge distance is just right for the punish. I aim to dodge to his right side - he seems to have a limited response when getting hit from that side, which can turn into an infinite loop. Not getting hit too much in this fight rewards me with a skip of his sub-phases. In phase 2 he ditches his weapons and adds grabs into his arsenal. Since he's using bare hands, intuition told me to mind my distance during his grab, but dodging backwards is usually bad as it keeps you in the line of fire so to speak. Dodging forward is good, but you still need to time it to some degree. He has two jumping slam attacks that leave him open (2:41, 3:07), but he has one that leads to a huge AoE (2:05). This attack seems impossible to dodge on mid weight, so I ditch my 2nd weapon right before the end of phase 1. Not a fan of all the delayed attacks in this game, and Godfrey has loads of them. It's just artificial difficulty, the problem is it becomes less about reaction and intuition and more about trial and error. Unless you've seen the attack and it's delayed delivery, you can only just absorb the hit and hope you took an accurate mental note of the delay.

ER does have its copy pasta bosses, but it does have badasses like Malenia and Maliketh. FUN fight! In terms of no-hit-ability, I find that his first phase is more difficult to pull off while staying aggressive. There seems to be very few windows where he won't counter with a quick double-slash. My current method is to dodge to his left and just attack. He's very vulnerable when he drags his dagger while approaching (0:31), as well as when he slams it down after a combo (0:39). Another opening is when he throws rocks from the ground upward (0:16) - if the area around him is safe, it's probably good for a few hits, he just tends to leap away and counter. Rewatching the vid made me realize most of my hits were due to greed - when I stuck to one attack at a time, I was able to avoid his counter. Awesome transition! Although it seemed to be too calm. If stabbing his hand blew his clothes off to reveal the armor, it would've been better IMO. His second phase has very generous windows. For some reason he likes to drag his sword on the ground and delaying the slam as if it's too heavy, then you see him flinging it mid-air like it's nothing (3:07). His mid-air projectile attacks have some tricky delays, especially on the 2nd and 3rd blades, where he seems to do a mini jump before launching the blade. After the third blade, he'll lunge forward for a double-spin attack, which can easily be dodged back or to the side (once is enough I think.) Another tricky move is the blade sphere one, which he starts with a spin. If you see that blade burning as he's about to do the attack, just dodge away (3:25). The Dragon Halberd skill is so much fun, I didn't mind eating a few attacks lol P.S. After the fight I googled if people thought he was just as cool as I thought he was. DAMN. I didn't know I was walking into SALT mines.

It sucks that I just got lucky in phase 2 - that bleed proc (3:47) saved me from her dash attack, and she didn't do her blade dance. I was waiting for the move, but still. I'll go back to her for better footage, I want to explore and finish the game first. In both phases, she has an indicator of how "aggressive" she is. When she's walking forward slowly, it's 99% safe to walk and attack as soon as I'm in range. If I attack late, she will land her attack first, if I attack too soon, I whiff. Next, when she's tiptoe-ing forward, it becomes a gamble. In that lucky bleed proc I mentioned above, I decided to gamble and go for an attack, which she responds to by doing that dash attack. If the bleed didn't proc, she'd tank my swing and hit me. Lastly, when she's running or dashing forward, she's likely to do hyper-armor moves that will tank my attacks. She has a high chance to backstep or dodge to the sides for a counterattack after getting hit twice. In phase 2, one hit can trigger may be all it takes. After hitting her, If she dashes to my left side, I need to re-orient my character towards her before attempting a parry - not doing so will fail the parry. In phase 2, she can also jump to either do the downward slam, or start her dance. I needed to calm down and not panic when she jumps - there's a short window of time before I can decide to throw the pot or not. Her new fun move in phase 2 is awesome (4:17). She has a fake swing in the middle that you have to ignore. Dodging it will set me up for a hit. The third slash is slightly delayed, so I delay my dodge accordingly. The fourth slash is the fake, it's the next slash from the right that needs to be dodged. Freezing pots aren't 100% safe. From point-blank, the pot misses her like a bad joke, and in phase 2, if the pot hits just as she's moving her sword down, she doesn't get frostbite. Now that this is done, I watched some videos and apparently there's a way to dodge the dance from up close, by tricking her tracking, which I admit I wouldn't have figured out on my own. Some say it's parryable, apparently I didn't try that hard enough. All in all, great fight! The music is up there with Lady Maria's.
