My favorite NASCAR season as it was my first when I really watched the races and followed the standings. Remember Mayfield was leading the championship.

What a fantastic season that was to watch! I used to drop everything each weekend the race was on. No DVR, got cable just to watch all the races.

This Stop Motion Race with FOX audio is so much better than how NASCAR on FOX is today and their lack of care for racing. In all seriousness, this takes me back!

I laugh whenever I see comments like “needs to be in 4K”. Screw all that….I like the static. Pure nostalgia. Takes me back to when I’d pop a tape like this in and was too lazy to get back up to adjust the tracking. 🤣

What a season Jeff Gordon had, 13 wins in a season. Tying the modern era record, Mark Martin would have won the title himself any other year, with 7 wins himself, he and Jeff Gordon were on another level that year

I was 4 in 98 and became a NASCAR fan when my uncle brought me a 1:64 diecast of Ernie Irvan's Skittles Car. To this day, my driver is whoever is in that candy car. I wore the shit outta this tape and knew every driver even their substitutes when someone was out or injured. Thank you to my dad for getting me this tape at Walmart in '99. God Dammit I LOVE NASCAR!!!

From 96-98 Gordon won 33 races. That's an insane stat.

Problem is, Mark Martin is one of the greatest drivers of all time going up against THE greatest drivers of all time. Gotta admire him though, he was one of the best to never win the championship.
@AWC1989 Жыл бұрын
@@KoeingseggCCM .....Here is who Mark Martin lost the championship to each of the 5 years he came second in the championship. 1990 Dale Earnhardt 1994 Dale Earnhardt 1998 Jeff Gordon 2002 Tony Stewart 2009 Jimmie Johnson .....Nascar put Mark Martin inside the top 25 drivers of all time a few years back, and he lost each year from a driver close to or inside the top 10 drivers of all time. .....I would say now Denny Hamlin passed Mark Martin up as the best driver without a championship except maybe Junior Johnson. Which that's Johnsons fault for not racing full time. With 50 wins having less than 150 top 10s in over 300 races isn't that impressive.
