I would love to hear whether you two think Glinda thinks of herself as wicked during the "No One Mourns the Wicked" song at the beginning of the play.

I Can Do It with a Broken Heart is, as you said, about the opening of the Eras tour and how she had to go on stage every night and project an image while being depressed about the break up of a long-term relationship. The dichotomy between the sad lyrics and the upbeat tone of the song is a mirror of this. The difference between Taylor and most people is that we don't have several hundred people depending on us for their living and tens of thousands of people every night who've paid to see us perform: Try and come for my job.
@Michael7557920 күн бұрын
But Daddy I Love Him is Taylor telling all the people, fans and others, who were saying that she needed to break up with Matty Healey for whatever reason that it's her life, they don't get a say in who she dates, and they should just keep out of it. I can't see why anyone other than the weirdos who think they can tell her what to do would object to this, and if they decide they're no longer fans I doubt Taylor would miss them. The final third of the song is about Travis Kelce.

I worked in Londonderry just after the peace agreement was signed. If i called the place Derry, i was scorned at if i called it Londonderry i was scorned at Northern Ireland. It was a hard place to adjust to. There was right and wrong on both sides English or Irish, royalist or republican, prodistant or Catholic. Admittedly, water has passed under the bridge now, but i do wonder what Brexit will do to the situation.

Fun reaction! If you haven’t seen them yet, find her performances from Bonaroo, Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. There are official recordings of each show. They are incredible start to finish. Enjoy! (Austin City Limits is out there too, I felt that one was off a bit but others may feel differently.) I think she is an amazing live singer and performer. - StraightgirltotallyinlovewithChappellRoan

13:55 - She's talking about the dragon they have above the stage during the musical that moves around and breathes smoke in the beginning of Act 1 and 2. I'd love to see some portrayal of that in the movie.

Kristin personally picked Ariana to play Glinda because she wanted someone who could have that horrible attitude toward Elphaba and be able to convincingly flip to a nicer attitude in a second.

I'm not sure what you're hearing in terms of this performance somehow revealing flaws in her earlier singing, especially since this performance was post-album. Can't really follow there. Additionally, she didn't make a mistake or say anything wrong. I'm not sure what you're talking about there either. She presented a less polarized political view, as we all should, and a bunch of Zionists jumped on it as a way to trash a famous woman. People should really just use their brains.
@WivesThatWatchАй бұрын
We just felt her vocals improved quite a bit between the album and Good Luck, Babe! Which is absolutely the highest compliment because her vocals were already good and now they feel so strong and phenomenal. As for the political part, all we’re saying is that we’re sure it’s difficult to manage so many opinions coming at you as a famous person and having your voice become so prominent, especially when you aren’t used to that! I hope that clears up confusion.
@Wiley_Coyote26 күн бұрын
Everyone hears things differently. Plus we don't know how good those headphones are. I personally think her technique here is near perfect. And I've listened to about a dozen Vocal Coach reactions who support that. This was after she'd gotten some decent vocal training... although I'm sure she's gotten even more since. The one thing I've noticed about the other live vocal performances from her I've seen (mainly her Festival sets) is that she starts out nervous, and her first song or two are the weakest performances. Then around Song #3 she nails it, and that continues for the rest of the set (which at the festivals are often a full hour). I do get that part of their opinion is a preference for a bigger venue with more exchange with a crowd. Chappell, despite her trouble with dealing with the public in other settings, is very good at being energized by a crowd (and stoking them up in exchange). I like the great acoustics in the more intimate setting, but understand their POV.
@marcellakilgarriff22 күн бұрын
@WivesThatWatch this performance is from earlier this year (April) so I think this is just a stylistic choice she was making for this smaller venue rather than vocal growth
@handlesareobnoxious22 күн бұрын
@@marcellakilgarriff Yeah, this is why I don't know what they are talking about, especially considering they basically aren't involved in music. This performance was AFTER the album release and around the time Good Luck, Babe released.
@marcellakilgarriff22 күн бұрын
@@handlesareobnoxious I think they were reading too much into it, maybe because her voice does sound a bit different here but not in a bad way, it's not like what she does in her live shows. It just shows how versatile of a performer she is.
@Nathan-yk2leАй бұрын
I love this performance SO much. Before this, she had pretty much given up on the project and was thinking of going back to school. It was her last hurrah, leave it all on the floor with a mic drop performance. And yes, this was long before any voice lessons. Each performer does leave an item to decorate the office. Chappell leaves the wig, of course.
@WivesThatWatchАй бұрын
AHH I love that she left her wig!! So cool. And her vocals have gotten stronger and I am amazed with the raw talent she showed here too.
@jabecker2124 күн бұрын
I have literally watched other Tiny Desk performances after this one just so I can stare at the wig.
@marcellakilgarriff22 күн бұрын
@@Nathan-yk2le this performance is literally from earlier this year though, after Midwest Princess was released so she definitely had voice lessons at that stage. She almost quit music back in 2020 that is true but this particular performance was not her last hurrah, it was actually very shortly before Good Luck Babe was released.

Episode 6 did have a specifically Reversed card in it, and if you were going for a full reading that card would end up first in the reading, Tower Reversed, which would represent Teen.
@clouggog9631Ай бұрын
I think she is recalling a reading she did prior to going on the road, and she is linking each event to the cards she pulled in that reading. I think she's going to eventually try to use the knowledge of the cards she pulled, that haven't happened yet, to prevent/encourage something from/to happen by the end of the Road.

GCSE's would be most similar to the GED in the US by comparison. After a student completes them, they can continue studying at school and take A levels [which are used for university admission], leave school and start working or go and start an apprenticeship or some other form of training for a specific vocational career pathway.

It sucks when employers expect you at work within hours of losing a pet you've had for 10+ years. Employers in pet-related fields tend to be a bit more understanding. Not always, but usually. Though, if I was expected to put in extra labor or time because yet another one of my coworker's mice died so she's out for the third time that year, I would quit. I care deeply about my chickens and ducks, they each have names and personalities, I take them to the vet and pay whatever it takes when they're suffering, and I grieve them privately when they die. But I don't take the day off when I lose one because I have, like, 25, and their lifespans are 7-10 years. Even if I could keep a job with numbers like that, and I wouldn't do that to my coworkers or clients.

This video is full of symbolism and references - mainly Snow White, The Little Match Girl and of course the Bible. Chuu's apple represents many things - youth, immaturity and innocence (as it's green), love (as she offers it to Yves multiple times) as well as knowledge and sin (as a direct biblical reference). Additionally, when you delve deeper into the lore of the yyxy subunit, you come to find that the girls can all be interpreted as aspects of one being. This fact gives Heart Attack another layer of interpretation wherein biting the apple can signify self-love, finally accepting oneself and only then getting your heart's desire (as per the common sentiment that you can't love another until you learn to love yourself).

Episode 3 is actually one of my favorite episodes of the whole serie! There's also a video here on YT where the cast reads the script of the first scene of this episode, and it's pretty funny lol. It shows how good these actresses are imo. (the title is "Derry Girls Live Script Read | Edinburgh TV Festival" if you want to check it out). Also, I loved that you noticed that Claire was the only one not charmed by the hot-priest.😂At the beginning the actress who played Claire was the only one in the cast who knew that her character was a lesbian, so it's interesting to see how she decided to act in these first episodes remaining true to her character's identity.🌈
