Very nice. It's great to see someone who knows nearly all the rules about oversize...haha. Did you know that you don't need to have the same amount of chain weight for the load. So if you have 27 ton load, you don't need 27 ton of chain strength. You only need to stop, 'reasonable' movement. That is, the load must not move if you need to jam on the brakes, but if the trailer rolls over, then that is not 'reasonable' movement and therefore it may come lose from the trailer. This is what I learnt from the load restraint course I did with the government, a few years ago. There is the amount of g-forces you need to calculate for each direction of possible movement. Oh and there is a great example of the benefit of having a manual transmission. When you are bogged you can rock the truck using the clutch. You should have been able to get out of that using that method but being auto, it's harder.
@TruckingAwesome
@TruckingAwesome Ай бұрын
Wow Jhonno you’re a real encyclopaedia of truck knowledge mate, I was inducted when I first started 9months ago and I did have some sort of “training” for each product that I’m carrying but I believe is so much information in such a short time that a lot can get lost and I rather overdo it for now until my paranoia goes away, but I try to cover the minimum guidelines and add whatever leaves me comfortable to drive within my low skill set 🥴 Regarding the Manual and Automatic transmission I’m almost sold on the idea, if God allows me to have another truck I will give the Manuals a Go 🥹👍
@RoadTrainAdventures
@RoadTrainAdventures Ай бұрын
@@TruckingAwesome That's great all round. Also on the oversize is great to see you got the placard up but I think you only need that if the load is less than 125mm high. Another side note is that there is a wrong way and right way to put up the flags. The yellow supposed to but to the top and red to the bottom. This is probably not really enforced but worth a note.

First off, we're only 2 years apart, so don't make me sound older than I am. And secondly, we were home alone way before that... Aninha used to look after me when I was little while you were still in kindergarten. Oh, and I preferred the video without the engine noise in the background: 16m38 the noise disappears👀 PS. I didn't know it's allowed to use a teleprompter while driving. I love Australia.

How can you call an engine sound by NOISE, that divine music is staying, for now at least 🙃, Lastly why would I need a teleprompter 😂 🤣😂🤣

I really hate auto. If I have to drive one I put it straight into manual and change gears like that. I think they are dangerous going down steep hills and don't change at the right time going up. When it comes to economy they're should be no difference unless that driver can't drive.
@TruckingAwesome
@TruckingAwesome Ай бұрын
Hey Jhonno, knowing you from your channel I could feel that coming 😅 In part I can agree up to a certain point with the wrong timing but mostly if you’re looking to carry up the most speed, which goes back to efficiency in my opinion and the way they are designed to handle that aspect on the road, but dangerous I have to disagree with you on that it would also go back to an argument regarding the driver skills, if they anticipate a steep hill they should be carrying the right gear at the top and let the truck do the rest. If you have a chance check out this video regarding the fuel economy side of things I was wrong(Manuals are better) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5-YXmysiNGKhqssi=RTGJ8sJaJTb_jSa7 For the rest I would just go by personal preference I guess, stay safe out there and thanks again for stopping by mate🙏🙋🏻‍♂️

White Australia was founded on racist ideology. Some relevant search terms are "terra nullius", "White Australia Policy" and "1967 referendum". There are many alive today who grew up in an Australia where indigenous people weren't counted in the human population and non-Europeans were barred from immigrating, and there are many Australians of all ages who cling to an insular colonial mindset, validated and encouraged by mass media companies and some politicians. But also...before the internet, the "Citizens' Band" radio channels (what we now call UHF) were one of the very few places where a nobody could be an anonymous edgelord. When I was a kid a neighbour showed me how cool he was by calling the emergency channel on his CB radio in a distresed-sounding voice and then saying something childish and rude and laughing at them when they responded. That radio call you heard reminded me of that neighbour, someone with nothing good to say and nothing better to do saying something edgy to make himself feel bigger. It might have been a fellow truck driver but given that you were transmitting for everyone's safety if he was a truck driver he was a very unprofessional one, so maybe more likely it came from a clown in a 4WD.

I started driving a heavy wrecker and saw a guy break his jaw with a breaker bar or should I say went out and towed the tractor and trailer of guy that broke his jaw. Nasty Winter time.Yuch. I can relate with the broken jaw bloke🥹 have some nasty near misses using binders myself, I’m only doing this job because is convenient at the moment but would definitely consider other sort of work further down the track, when I started the guy that was training me was pulling a chain from the top of a high stack of tubes and the hook came straight into his face, his mouth started bleeding and his front tooth had a quite bad crown fracture 🥴(I saw some blood coming from the tooth itself which was likely to end up in a root canal and some serious restoration work$$$$), isn’t easy but can be done safely if you’re not in a rush or working on autopilot/inattentive, well cabovers is all this company has to offer but would also rather a bonneted for the long hauls, a Peter Built would be a charm but they’re quite rare here in downunder 🥲 I really appreciate you stopping by and take the time to leave a feedback mate, it means a lot 🙋🏻‍♂️🙏 stay safe and all the best my friend
