Studying semantics is interesting! Componential analysis of meaning can help on writing definitions. Because componential analysis of meaning separates lexemes according to their shared and contrastive features. The genus and differentiae, on the other hand, are the two components of the definition. Differentiae is the quality that distinguishes a word from other members of the same class, whereas genus is the overall class to which the word belongs.
