Further information on the B.B. Cannon contingent of Cherokee who came through Cane Hill in 1837. James Starr, one of the leaders was later shot off his front porch in the troubles between the Cherokees for removal and those who were forced to remove. Charles Reese, a second leader, perhaps in an attempt to completely get away from the troubles, made a sojourn to Texas. On the journey he died of lung fever and was buried in an unmarked grave somewhere along the Colorado River in Texas. He is believed to be the same man identified as "the whale," whose silver mounted rifle now resides in the military museum at Horseshoe Bend. It had been awarded to him by the U.S. President for signal bravery in that battle. Just a couple of the many passersby who came through Cane Hill in it's heyday.

I think the confederates stole the designs of their flag from those tribes as well

So is this just a whole “educational” presentation to glorify the confederacy again?!?! Such outstanding and brave soldiers with pure and godly women holding down the family and home. So weird that Arkansas also had Union soldiers but apparently they aren’t statue and worship worthy. The Confederate glorification is truly bizarre. And yes, I live in Arkansas and have several confederate ancestors as well as being DAR

The Europeans are the Johnny come lately tribe . There's documented proof that the Europeans encountered Negro like natives and Negro people . Pucknawhitla (Bainbridge Georgia) was a thriving such town before the invasion from Edmund P Gaines and Andrew Jackson.

So how did 93 people watch this but only five gave a thumbs-up rating? The other 88 hated it? Come on, folks, don't be so retentive... if you liked Brandon's talk and found it worthwhile, how long would it take you to rate it thumbs-up??

Wow, im sorry but whoever was the presenter needs to go through cultural diversity education, cultural sensitivity training and actually go speak to some individuals and primarily the elders of these tribes. Her overall relaxed and adolescent nervous type tone of speaking, incorrect description of events, repeated use of harmful stereotypes and phrases just shows that her research was either just cut & pasted from old racist literature or AI/chat gpt generated. Slow down…. take a breath… become still in your thoughts and body…and go listen to elders of those specific tribes. Listen A LOT more, and talk for Indigenous peoples A Lot less

Yes, I love Came Hill! I immediately felt the presence of Native Spirits. It made me sad...I felt a sadness there I couldn't really describe...however, I wanted to live there...I also felt an amazing peace ..so my emotions were all over the place...it's a wonderful place and I felt an historic connection there...I went up to the cemetery and prayed...took pics, went through the buildings and just stood amazed at this mysterious historic place. I definitely felt an undeniable connection.🙏✨💚 Maybe God richly bless the souls who live there today🙏✨💚

*This is some truth mixed with a lot of lies and five hundred years of missing history!* Columbus was 1492. This is the 1800's she's speaking of. History as far back to the 1200's is missing.

I lived in Prairie Grove for 25 years and knew an old fella with a last name similar to yours. I don't remember how he spelled it, but I remember his story. He and his two younger siblings were "train children," orphans or otherwise given up for adoption, sent by train to rural areas to be claimed by whoever met them at various depots. My friend and his siblings were separated somewhere in the Cane Hill area. Wondered if you might be a relative.

In WA State twenty years ago, before I came down to Arkansas, where i had lived as a child, a woman in a coffee shop of smug pseudointellectuals said to me, "Arkansas! Where will you plug in your computer?" Another person said, "Have you seen the movie Deliverance?" And still another said, "Arkansas! Where's that?"

This is fantastic. I am a native Missourian. My family is all from Missouri. The Waynesville, Fort Leonard wood area. So all of this is very fascinating. I’ve been drawn to “witchcraft “ since I was little. I’ve been dabbing in things on and off for years, but I’ve recently found that folk magic and herbal medicine is where I’m being pulled to. I’ve heard stories about family members doing certain things back in the day… folk magic. These people are no longer with us, so I’m planning on doing family interviews and writing a sort of family magic book.
