They've been talking about adding adjustment layers for like 5 years. I don't think it's coming.

I right mouse click on my image file and there's an option to remove the background - it's literally done in seconds, automatically x

If you need help with editing or removing something from the screenshot you shared, you could describe the image, or you could upload the image itself (if that's an option). Once I know more about the content of the image, I can guide you on how to remove or modify the part you're referring to using various tools.

Ok either you missed explaining something or I'm just not getting it. My trace is very jagged and not like yours.

It's hard to believe how stupid and difficult the way to draw a circle is in this program. Were the creators of Gimp idiots or did they do it to spite users? And by the way, what you drew is not a circle, but the area of a circle. A simple circle looks like a ring. In a normal program, there should be a circle symbol, which when you click on, you can then draw a circle at any point by holding down the mouse button, starting from its center.

Just wish GIMP was designed for logic not memory. The clone too is a brush, it does not deserve it's own space. Logic is basically how an artist would approach a project. Everything is logical. If he grabs a brush it provides all the links that Brush can do. Same with the canvas/layer. From what size to what kind. Back in the day we had transparent plastic, not an alpha channel. LOL. Anyways thanks for the vid.

I just wanna say that you are an amazing teacher. I've learned more in 2 minutes than I have learned since starting to use gimp lol. Also, to anyone using gimp consider making a donation to them, they put a lot of work into making this open source software and anything their way can help bring the features we want faster. 3.0RC.1 is in rotation which brings a ton of features we have been asking for. We are soooo close to a 3.0 release. Or if you are multilingual consider helping with translations, open source always needs translators and are very much appreciated by everyone. Sorry, not trying to advertise in your comments, I just love open source and think it will bring a brighter future for everyone if we started supporting it more.

So knowledgeable, but LORD get to the point already! Layers is like having a picture on drawing paper, then putting a pain of glass over that drawing and continuing to work on that drawing by doing all the work on the pain of glass. You can then add more glass to the pile and work on each pain of glass separately, so you can see how that picture will look with the work added to it, but without permanently altering the picture. That way if you don't like how something you added looks, you can just remove that pain of glass (or the LAYER) and your original picture is unharmed. There, now layers has been explained and it took all of 20 seconds. Now you can get right to showing us all how to do it correctly.

Please people! If you are serious about producing art with your computer go with Adobe. I know they are evil and all that, but they are the leader for a reason. You don’t think the companies out there would like to save money and not pat Adobe? They know it’s cheaper to buy the right tool then play around with free stuff.

This has to be one of the most difficult photo apps to get around, so many clicks to do such simple things. I always used photoshop but got fed upon the subscriptions so ditched it a couple years ago. now im doing a banner for something and need to trim a couple of edges, I can't find a way to invert the image as when I select invert it does not do it you present your videos well

You know I started using Gimp years ago, mix it in with MSPaint and PSP, so I get ALL the GFX power I need.. How did I find it years ago ? It was by accident :O Was looking for the latest Deluxe Paint and if someone made for the PC, which there was a elderly version of BUT GIMP popped up a bit furth down and said, WHY NOT give it a try ?? Layout was like Deluxe Paint, some buttons were the same. So its always installed on my computer now with all my great programs used for making games or videos !... THANKS GIMP people !!!!!

Why would you purposely leave in a missed step instead of just editing it to where the steps are correct.

I usually sort my photos by datetime taken but after exporting, was missing exif data. Thanks to the video, found that EXIF data was not checked. I don't have the cog next to the export button unfortunately - its Darktable 4.8 Windows version. Edit metadata exportation is now under the export hamburger menu - preferences...

I feel the need to comment because I am noob at gimp and was watching the tutorial to implement shadows in a guitar pedal that I am building (distortion pedal) and the image with the chalkboard has almost the exact same circuit I am building. Coincidence is a funny thing...

For all the people who use new versions of GIMP: There is no "Increase/Decrease Brush" option. Search for "Tool's Size Increase/Decrease" option instead of it.
