as Parkruns go, Birkenhead is quite a fast one if you start at the front. only a couple of hairpins. Its the course that has my PB. Effectively starts at the top of a small hill and ends at the bottom, so leans towards a sprint finish

It's so bizarre when a commenter says things that are not so post-to, but we all make mistakes. Just a few people can comment on athletics, and you have that ability. But being jealous is not your thing.

lol, you realise they started the race at 3:24 pace? which is way faster than the world record. Indeed it is a smart strategy to stay at the back or at the front to avoid falls, u will realise if it you run track.

Jakob knows he is capable of running fast enough, he simply does not see any reason to fill up his legs with lactic acid just to gain a particular position near the front just after the start.

Lazy is kinda crazy he just knew he absolutely no reason to push the pace or even lead he just cruised it out and won and it is just a prelim anyway

Brilliant run by JI! Smart, conservative and no need to be flashy. The commentator, was wrong! Laura Muir in particular is known to hang right back even last in the pack!
@UltraWhale
@UltraWhale 6 ай бұрын
He literally did everything to make it look flashy and wasn't conservative at all. Was no need to leave such a big gap in the beginning, nor was it necessary do that last sprint and pass the Italian guy at the end. He is a great runner but is really cocky and egocentrical.

@@UltraWhale he actually ran the first lap evenly. If you look again, you'll see he passed 100 meters in right around 15 seconds, and caught up to the pack by 400m in 60.x seconds. It's the rest of the pack that slowed down. Given this is a prelim, that's somewhat predictable and he chose to stay out of trouble and run evenly. That proved itself even more when he was dead last going into the bell lap where immediately after passing the bell, a pack of runners in front of him clashed and fell. Having run behind them, he was able to easily maneuver around them.

@@uerox8814 to purposely go to the back leave a large gap and then pass everybody else, what's the large gage for?
