Before I was born, did God determine to give me a great life and then have me lose it all and experience depression, drug abuse and regret? Why?
@garrynwood2902 ай бұрын
The book of Job speaks to a very similar situation
@iamgodphotography2 ай бұрын
@@garrynwood290 yes, I am familiar with that story, but my question of WHY cannot be known to us then? For instance, if GOD predetermined that I would lose my investments and have to leave Chicago, was it because I had to learn a lesson or because of something that I did or would have done if I stayed in Chicago. I had a great life in Chicago with money and properties and a lot of friends and women and, it was like a playground for me. Now all I do is mope around and depression and regret because I don’t have those things anymore. But that means that my joy and happiness was contingent on my circumstances which is also not good. I just go around in circles in my head. Wondering why
@garrynwood2902 ай бұрын
@@iamgodphotography Whatever exactly happened in your exact situation and why I cannot be for sure because I am not God. He does make it clear to us in the Bible that the ultimate source of Joy is to be found in Him and not in the created things. Also many times God uses the low points in life for us to turn to Him. As James 1:9-11 says, "[9] Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, [10] and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. [11] For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits." The Gospel provides hope to those who are in poor earthly situations because the Father now sees any Christian as he sees His Son Jesus; Holy and blameless. That is what the Bible says we are to have pride in. Not our earthly situation, but our spiritual one, which we did not and could not earn but it was because of Christ that we have it.

In the past, I became angry with God because he would not remove a repetitive sin and desire from me though I prayed many times that He would. What I now have come to believe through prayer and reading is the reason He never removed the desire from me is to make me grow and want Him more than that sin. He wants me to love Him more than any situation or circumstance in my life and lean on Him to overcome a sin that I could never overcome myself.

@@garrynwood290 I think you hit it spot on/ Even IF I would have NOT lost a lot I would have been disappointed that it is not fulfilling. People look for happiness OUTSIDE of themselves, but Jesus taught that the kingdom is within us. The Christ in YOU. I Am still looking, but learning that it definitely was NOT in wealth or of this world. Thanks for replying.

This is excellent- we need to know THAT he died, and WHY he died (to free our hearts and pay our debt) and then be childlike enough to come needy and trusting of his love and our value in his eyes ❤

Well meaning but not accurate. -"nothing can separate us from the love of God” - (I agree, but Paul doesn’t, Paul asserts God’s love is conditional) -“everything that happens is working into God’s plan for our good and his glory” - this is delusional - 200 million people killed by other people in the 20th century alone. The Holocaust. Venezuelan babies dying for lack of unspoiled milk. 400 million Africans living in extreme poverty. Etc. Here’s well known specific case: Hypatia, a great thinker of the 4th century, was stripped, beaten and skinned alive with oyster shells, ripped to shreds, dragged through the streets until dead by a Christian mob. God’s plan? God’s glory?
@helenagee18852 ай бұрын
Just to inform you ,they weren't christian mob but were Zealots a jewish/ political violent sect. Jesus never promoted violence or political agendas. Just like roman catholism was violent throughout the middle ages ,people can assume that is Christianity however roman catholism is so far removed from biblical Christianity. Jesus even apposed Peter for cutting off a roman soldiers ear. So if it is violent or murderess then that isn't true biblical Christianity . The Zealots were disappointed even in Jesus has he had no political agendas.

We lost a great one when he passed. Loved this dear man. His sermons got me through hardest time of my life. Deep stuff. Love how he doesn’t preach. He just shared his heart and it poured into many people like soothing oil on a wound. Thank You Jesus for give us Keller all those years. How I wish I could have found Jesus in his church and attended there for years. I’d be a much more patient and gracious follower of Christ.

It's so obvious, yet I'd never put it into words. That much of modern peace seeking involves avoiding thinking whereas the Bibles in based predominantly in thinking on facts.
