Hint on shutdown.....you turned the dial all the way to the right to shut down. If I'm not mistaken, this only kills the ignition.....BUT.....the floatbowl of the carb is still full and can get clogged up if you leave it "sit" for a long time before our next use. You could have turned the dial to the "second-from-last"position...that shuts off the fuel supply to the unit. That way, it will shut down by starving itself of fuel... chugging a bit as it the carb runs out of fuel....but then you don't have old gas sitting in your carb for the next restart...it will be empty. After that, yes....I guess you can turn the dial all the way to the right to kill ignition too... for such mid-term storage and re-use.

If this is model 100719, as it seems to be (....the delux 8500/7000 version that is extra quiet)...these retail for $2400 ( June 2024).....the model 100520 is also 8500/7000, but is a louder open frame version...THAT one is approx $1300....wonder if your order got mixed up. Both get delivered as bonded neutral ...and Champion has a vid how to remove a wire to make floating neutral if you need it.

Nothing you said makes sense. Both cars have different starting velocity, and their respective kinetic energy. We know that one car breaks from 70 to 0, so we know that in that space the car dissipates all its kinetic energy. We ASSUME that the other car dissipates the same amount of kinetic energy, and we calculate how much energy it has at the crash, getting the 71mph. I have no idea what you even attempted to say, and I don't normally say this, but I'm an engineer myself. Please, just don't. Even if your explanation was more realistic (I doubt it) it was incomprehensible anyway.

The computation in the original Numberphile video IS correct. Let me explain why. The assumption is that both cars start breaking with the same acceleration. Hence, we do not need to take the mass or the friction into account, since the assumption is that the acceleration is the same for both cars. Now suppose that a car is driving with a velocity of v(t) and that it starts accelerating at t=0 with a (constant) value of 'a' (being negative, since the car is decelerating). Now we want to know the situation after t seconds (supposing the car hasn't stopped yet). Also suppose that during those t seconds the car has travelled a distance of 'd'. Then we can derive two equations: d = [v(0) + v(t)]/2 * t v(t) = v(0) + a * t Eliminating t we deduce: 2*a*d = v(t)² - v(0)² Note that dividing the equation above by 2 and multiplying it by 'm' - the mass of the car - we get the equation that 'Work done by friction = difference in kinetic energy. (we do NOT need to assume that the masses of the cars are equal or that they both have the same friction during breaking: we 'only' assumed that they have the same deceleration, which was given in the video: they both break with the same 'rate') The equation above about '2*a*d' holds for both cars. Hence, their difference in velocity² over every interval [0, t] must be equal. Especially for the time t=T where the blue car stops right in front of the tree. Filling in the initial and end values for both cars, we DO get that the velocity of the red car at t=T is then (around) 71.4 mph.

Or if you have time and want to mail it out to me, I'll take a day to pull it apart and if it does need capacitors, I have a bunch here I can swap out for you .

Good video showing how the microswitch works. Others, keep in mind that if it keeps running, but the toilet doesn't empty the pump may have lost the pressure/force required to pump the full distance upward. In my case, mine wouldn't run and found a toilet seat bumper jammed in the macerator blades. Then when installing the top, which mine has a rubber boot that fits over the pump exit pipe, I didn't pay attention to ensuring the rubber was perfectly fitted. This caused a kink that poured waste right back into the pump box. This obviously caused the pump to keep running since there wasn't enough pressure to force any waste out and waste was going right back in. In a lot of videos, I see newer pumps don't have a rubber exit boot. I'm glad I'm not a plumber. 🤣

the ai power at costco at 999 is a fair deal this week (i got the champion tsd 1st time) but from reading amazon, youtube (even some comments on gavins channel) and bbb communication for an issue isn't positive..... It would be interesting to read one first hand account of warranty handling before dropping a grand, looks like any other rebanded chinese gen. The champion is china also but does seem to be engineered by champion as nothing else looks like it. But yeah you're right feature wise it can't compete at original price...i would hope the difference in original is made up by support, long term parts,etc. Ai power good luck 12 months from now i bet.

@@swade3485 I have a smaller champion that is 22 years old or so..... From when it was a brand new company.. It was recommended on RV forums back then. Only 68 db, had rv plug. Champions story was it was a Chinese generator, but they oversaw it closely and actually had quality control. I can say mine's been a good generator. With the smorgasbord of models they have today I don't think that's entirely the same. I have read some reports of some problematic models. I would hope they're still a cut above many of the Chinese imports though. But it's clear now champion produces or maybe I should say imports generator specifically to retailer specifications. As well as some models only for specific retailers too. So they are not out there trying to produce the best generators they can... they're actually letting their customers dictate price and specifications to them.... And then they go to the Chinese company and tell them give us something to meet this.... After the first few hours with my new champion 8,500/7000 inverter..... Well it seems okay. I think it was a good deal for what I paid for it.$1260 +tax, shipping. I would not pay 2300 + tax for it. Unfortunately the fuel fill is awful. They put a small ~ 1" strainer basket in it, with a piece of red plastic to let you gauge your maximum fuel level on. You cannot fill it with that little basket there. You need a big strainer fuel fill for a generator because the only way to fuel it is to turn a five gallon fuel can upside down..... Rest it on the fill spout to support the weight......then let it rip...... If you do that with their little' strainer in there you've got fuel going everywhere. It splashes out runs all over the generator. The problem is with the little strainer you have a ledge that is around the edge of the strainer and if you rest the weight of the fuel can on the lip most of your fuel is pouring down onto that ledge..... That ledge is not deep enough to keep it from splashing out. You can't hold a 30 lb fuel can very long and just slowly tip a small flow of fuel out a spout. Not to mention the new EPA fuel cans don't allow for that anyway. It's All or nothing on flow. Absolutely horrible piece of crap Chinese design... Again this is something that should be so simple that they used to have right, that's absolutely horrible. There is no American design going into the generator.. they are only obviously buying something from a piece of crap Chinese company and slapping labels on it. The Chinese company will cut corners everywhere you allow them to, or where there is no specification. I have no doubt I'm going to be grinding the fill hole in the top of my tank larger one day in order to hang a larger fuel filter basket in there. The filter basket isn't needed so much for the fuel as it is for debris that's on the outside of fuel cans and such. Particularly the bottom as they've been sitting on the ground. The generator has a big cap and a big wide well ... Then they put this little one inch-ish restrictive fuel filter basket at the bottom of it... With a red plastic cross piece covering half of it. Absurd. But, their goal was to make sure that nobody overfilled it....... So is likely intentional.... You have to fill slowly and you have something that tells you when STOP. Why? Lawyers no doubt. Stupid people overfilling their generators. There does appear to be substantial free space in the top of the tank above this stop level however..... I mean like an inch.... I'm curious now what the total volume of the tank is and if it's possible to modify it to hold a bit more...... The other thing I'm going to do immediately is install a switch to ground and unground the neutral. To plug the generator into the house it needs a floating neutral., But to use it as a standalone it needs bonded for GFCI receptacles. As far as noise well I measured it with my phone which seems to be respectively accurate. It says 61 DB at 23 ft just like their specification in eco mode. Not in eco mode it says about 64 to 65 with no load. With a load of 3500 watt I got about 69-70 DB at 23 ft. Up close next to the generator the sound level is about 73 to 75 unloaded. This is about what I expected. My smaller 3500 champion synchronous generator that is 68 at 23 ft is about 85 standing right next to it. So this is noticeably quieter. But not quite what I would call truly quiet. However the noise is a bit less objectionable than some other generators. Maybe lower toned. For "quiet" inverter generator this size, 420cc engine it is acceptably quiet i think. Much more quiet than a conventional generator or an open frame inverter. But it's middle of the pack. It's going to be louder than the power horse or Honda, which are heavier. When you look at the weight of the champion open frame model that's also 8,500/7,000 it's about 150 lb... So basically you've got about 60 lb of material in this inverter generator that is going towards sound reduction. The Honda and power horse are heavier...246 and 292 lbs..... so they probably have more material going towards sound deadening as well and they are marginally quieter. With the heaviest power horse being the quietest.. go figure. It is barely acceptable to move around at 211 lb. I would not want to be moving around a heavier one. So I think Champion compromised here.....and probably well. It came strapped and shrink-wrapped to a wooden pallet. I picked it up from the freight company instead of waiting a week for them to deliver it. I was able to get it out of my truck bed by myself by sliding the pallet down a four wheeler ramp. The shipping Bill said 244 lb. Then I use a hand truck (dolly) to pick up the big generator box and wheel it to the back of my house. Where I proceeded to cut the box apart to unpack it. It would have been nice if the top of the box had lifted off the bottom after slicing some tape, and then the bottom folded down.... But as it is it's a one piece box all stapled together and you just got to cut it all apart. Because nobody's lifting the generator out of the top of the open box.... So far I think it was good deal. The plastic Wheels seem flimsy but they all have plastic Wheels today to be light. At least the champions at 9" are big enough to actually roll over grass, gravel and stuff. You can look at a lot of the larger generators and see tiny Wheels which would only roll on Pavement. Again, that's ridiculous. But it's cheap. And people in China don't have land and hunting camps . They don't go tailgating at football games and have to roll generators across grass fields used for parking lots....so they don't understand the uses for generators really.......

And if the extra features are actually useful or not worth the extra money.
@duskyman1
@duskyman1 Жыл бұрын
@@gjkop3212 that's the thing, you're going to spend $500 trying to make a worthless enclosure to quiet it down.......74 is LOUD. Can you quiet it down significantly, ...yes. but you will spend a lot of money to do so, several hundred dollars just on 3" rockwool insulation. Without the insulation you're not going to do much. You will also need a forced air intake to your enclosure which means a fan that is reliable to run off the generator. If the enclosure is portable then you need to be able to store it somewhere as well. In the long run you will be happier with a quieter generator from the start.... And it will have a better resale... Imo. Now the worst thing about this generator, is you can only get 4800 watts when you have it in 120 volt.... And they are both on opposite sides... So those can't be paralleled with a simple parallel connection to a 30 amp RV plug . only get 30 amps from one side of it. It should be capable of producing 58 amps at 120 volt but there's no way to get it because the plugs are only rated for 20 on the front and they have 20 amp breakers. It should have come with 120 volt 50 amp plug. Like the power horse 7500, which is quieter It doesn't look like there is a circuit breaker in the diagram for the 240 volt/30 amp plug. So possibly you can get about 50 amp by combining one side of the 240 volt plug with the 20 amp receptacle that's also connected on that side of it..... But it's really effed up .

TSC still hasn't sold any more of these since before Christmas so I really think they confused the price on these with another model. Nobody else has tried to sell it for $1,000 less than full price. Usually the manufacturer controls that price and there are stipulations on when you can sell it for less. Often that only occurs when you put things on clearance and have discontinued carrying the whole mfg line.
