Personality already advertises who we are and what we're about. We don't need tattoos for this. Getting tattoos is narcissistic. It's obvious the individuals who get them are trying to draw attention to themselves. Like walking billboards. The more tats they have, the louder the affect it has. Thing is ... though many people claim to get tats for sentimental or memorializing reasons, these are usually attention hoarders in general. "Look at me!" Some people get them to fit in with the type of people they associate with, or to look cool. The ones that get mean and scary tats are people who want to intimidate others and scare them off. One of the 6 components of health is Social health. This is measured by how well a person fits in with the social norm, which is to be low profile. Under the radar. Rebels don't want to fit in. They want to stand out. People like this often have some form of mental illness or emotional instability.
