not a joke: saw the same thing yesterday over b'ham Edgbaston last night around 9:30 - but there where two. strange flight paths - looked like the Chinese lanterns but was moving upwards and in a sort of formation. and ideas? maybe a new government plane???

oh and tell your mrs it aint no fookin' plane, lol....i see weird shit like this often, is that the reason they turned sellyoak hospital into a military hospital?

@mrescuba i actually just seen something the same tonight up in scotland tonight except it's movements were unpredictable as it was heading my way it would zigzag from side to side moved way too fast for a plane or helicopter at that height then it stopped moving in my direction still moved side to side then faded like it was heading back in to space i wish i had my video camera at hand to record it defiantly the strangest thing i've seen in the sky.

i saw 5 of these sort of things at around 10:30 in surrey one night recently - lots of people have reported them. im liking the footage, but it could be a chinese lantern if you say it changed direction and appeared to be on fire. its not an aircraft though thats for sure - there are no warning lights, and you say its silent. but yeah - you have yourself a ufo my friend (dont think they are spacecraft or anything like that, but orbs are often cited as paranormal) :)

I just saw this at 9:00pm, it just zoomed pass and then dissapeared.

I have seen the exact same thing over Ladywood/ Winston Green area about 3 nights ago 5/02/2010 i thought it was a plane too but the lights were flashing too fast for it to be a plane and the way it moved was not like a plane i've also seen these red lights appear very often round about half past ten right up to about 2 in the morning

Chinese lantern,its flickering because there is a flame inside it, and planes usually carry more than one light

saw the same thing over birmingham city centre last night about 7 oclock, 15 to twenty bright orange lights. My son and I saw the same thing about 3 years ago and it was around this time of year again!

Saw it again last night (16/05/2009 - 23:30) - Much higher up in sky this time and again it disappeared upwards - Crystal clear night, planes were around and lokked nothing like it!

Loads of activity, all in one week. Trouble is it's all at night so hard to get some perspective on it when filming

Looks a lot like the Stephenville Lights captured on camera. The rainbow and the jumping line feature.

but then agen if we did have a great quality camera on us (just happen to have one) it would be ridiculed for being such good quality lol cant win either way

because some of us don't carry round a big high quality camera, more obvious answer to your question would be phone camera are the devices most used to capture sighting

yep, in the water but fairly shallow, standard digital camera in underwater housing.
