Very nice layout. I've not seen an HO/OO outdoor layout previously, and I thought the problem was that the track will not stand up to the elements, esp UV. How have you managed to keep it from being damaged?

Thanks,Yeah there isnt very many outdoor oo gauge layouts this big,The track is peco flexible track concrete sleeper SL-102 track,it stands outside all year without any issue,Nickel silver rail tarnishes so needs cleaning everytime its used,But otherwise its absolutely fine 🙂

We were there today (Sunday) and there were no trains at all. Not in the next 2 hours on RTT also. Ended up going to Brocklesby Jn instead.

You won't see that much at Thornton Abbey only the Barton service with Emr 170's,Brocklesby or Ulceby you would get far more traffic 🙂

The 66 in traditional (!) big arrow blue looks lovely. I saw a Mersey Rail multiple unit in blue the other day and it looked nice too. Shows what a good a livery it was.

Yep 66789 is my favorite livery on a 66 i think,i've got a few loco's including a 37 and 56 in this livery 🙂

Thanks thats only 10 % of the stock we actually have,2024 will be more running sessions with the rest of the stock and another new 22 x 15 ft layout 🙂

Doing a full rewire at the moment to separate the whole layout into 8 sections to make fault finding not such a hard task and taking delivery for free another layout that is 22 ft x 15 ft wide that needs a home and finishing,that will be the 2024 project 🙂 @@banksroadmodernimage7358

Hello, im really interested in the past of the farm and house. My grandparents, who currently live in holton le clay, have a framed picture of the cottage before it burnt down in colour and we would be really interested to find out more about the history of the house and who was there at the time. Anything you know would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,not much is really known about the site,All we know is it was built by the Kirby family and called Kirby house farm,The thatched cottage dates 1560 and it was bought by its current owner in 1999 and caught fire after a builders fire set fire to the thatch,i look after the site now.

not a gun emplacement as no elevation to fire... it was most likely a sighting bunker for radio operators from the tower the slit to be able to sight planes landing or taking off under fire.

Nostalgia overload. After it closed the airfield was utilised for stage rallies in which I participated in the mid '90s. Miles of quality tarmac and grass tracks. At the time it couldn't be beaten as a venue. Sadly all gone.
