I have photochromatic (off Uv) single prescription...thinking about bifocals. Are the photochromic type of yours, ones that works off UV or would they wirk while driving a car?
@OrdinaryBlokeOnABike14 сағат бұрын
Hi, a great question which led me to contact Optlabs. Mine react to UV so don't react so well behind a car windscreen but until very recently "transitions" lenses on bifocal were available which do work when driving but they have a temporary issue in getting hold of these so have removed the option. If Varifocals are required though then Transitions lenses can still be ordered.

How do you get that split screen -course + climbpro? When a climb is shown it takes full screen so I cannot see my route any more .
@OrdinaryBlokeOnABike10 күн бұрын
Where you following a loaded course? The dual screen is when it senses a climb coming up when you're not following a course ( I'm away right now so can't check but sure this can be edited) The screen you describe is what climb Pro looks like on a climb during a pre determined loaded course
@wvr83049 күн бұрын
That's correct. I get that fulltime climbpro screen when following a preloaded gpx route. I would prefer a split screen so I can still see the course map.
@OrdinaryBlokeOnABike9 күн бұрын
@@wvr8304 It really is strange that Garmin gave you the screen you want when they gave us Climbpro on a free ride but can't include the ability to include the map when climb pro pops up when following a route, hopefully it's on their list of desireable improvements

I'm not a cyclist, but I am a keen motorcyclist. I found this article extremely interesting. Of course I don't have the head wind issues but side winds can be a scary problem in just the same manner as for you cyclists. I avoid going out when the wind speed is above 30 mph. Well done on another well presented and informative article.

It hadn't crossed my mind that this was appropriate for motorcyclists too, so thank you for that . Agree that although we hate headwinds the real dodgy stuff is from the side 👍😁

@@OrdinaryBlokeOnABike you’re welcome. Technically according to CRT (Canal & River Trust) you’re not supposed to cycle through bridges. You’re required to dismount and walk through for the safety of pedestrians since they have priority over cyclists on the towpath. That said of course many people do just cycle through. As a cyclist you’re also required to cycle the route closest to the water when passing pedestrians. Lots of little quirks to cycling towpaths. Also to be noted towpaths aren’t actually public rights or way. They are legally permissive pathways requiring permission from CRT for their use. Because CRT receive a government grant paid for by taxpayers they have given the general public blanket permission to use those permissive paths. But it’s worth noting the distinction for insurance purposes in the event of an accident etc. But it does all get a little complex and tricky depending on where you are because some towpaths are actually supported and maintained by Sustrans.

Very true words. I am 77 and riding very happily and reasonably strongly now. Adding small increments and taking time to "smell the flowers" along the way is the key.

I maybe in the minority, but I hope not, but Zwift (given I ride on it at least 3 times a week as part of my Training Peaks training programme) is great value even after the price increase. I get from it exactly what I want (I don’t race or take part in Group Rides other than those organised by my Cycle Club or Training Group when the weather is not conducive for a Club Ride.). I’m an annual subscription and use it year round.

I’m in this camp, I’m in the software business and I see this a lot where the value is not seen by the general public. It’s costly to add features, fix bugs and generally run a system in servers etc. I’m also of the mind I’d prefer a stepped approach to a price increase. I use Zwift 2 to 3 times a week in summer and 4 to 5 in winter so per 90 session is decent value.

It also feels more real, I find myself moving on the bike in corners or going through dips like I would outdoors. I also like that it has some longer flat rides for recovery days. I swear if I ride Tempus Fugit one more time I’ll scream. I’ve hung onto Zwift, but I am starting to question why.

@Nyarlathoth3 ай бұрын
The problem is that Zwift is no longer synonym for indoor cycling. For me, indoor cycling is worth 100+ $$ per winter month, but I don't need Zwift to push the pedals. With the main struggle of the competition being lack of user base, Zwift should have rather reduced the price to ensure maintaining the monopole. People finding an alternative are not coming back. I think. We'll see. Upping the price step by step would not have been better, I am afraid. People would scream: "Zwift increasing the price for the 10th time in 10 years?!?"
