Don't worry! Writing in my opinion could be a step towards Speaking because whenever we try to speak we feel a kind of fumbleness or hesitation. On the other hand, if you try to express your thoughts in the written form, you can easily be able to do that thus, whatever you want to express it will be stored in your mind automatically, and when you will try to convey it verbally you won't feel that much hesitation you had before! Are you getting my point?
