It may be sacrilegious to say this in terms of 1980s gymnastics , but I think the Soviet compulsory floors from 1988 really left a lot to be desired. I personally dislike the timing they chose. The pianist plays too fast.. The first half is very rushed, none of the positions are held long enough, there is no rhythm or flow . Some of the gymnasts are missing some of the retiré positions and the overall amplitude is underwhelming.

I would have taken an extra 0.1 twice for visibly flexed feet in 2 leaps for Shusonova. (Especially when compared to the others who had unquestionably pointed feet)

I remember how Komova’s mother didn’t always have the most difficulty but impeccable form and execution in her Goodwill Games win. Komova seemed to lack focus and fight when she needed it most. That last floor pass deduction was lazy. She could’ve fought for that. Just like her AA vault in 2012.
