she can just spam those one arm spins and win gold easily 😂😂

No. Just no. Even by 1988 scoring that should've been about a 9.85. By today's scoring it would be much, much lower.

It's dangerous ending from tumbling in dive roll. It takes an enormous amount if control.

This was straight up robbery. Shannon threw a 10.0 vault and earned gold. This was discrimination by foreign judges against American. They weren’t ready to admit that strictly European gymnastics dominance was over in a fully attended Olympics. Shannon is number one in my book!

One of the best choreographies of all time. Shushunova wasn't an elegant gymnast, but she'd had a ton of dance training, and she really pulled off this choreography.

Ahhh 😌 the great days of gymnastics 🤸🏽♀️ 🥹🥹🥹. I wasn’t a gymnast, but a sheer aesthete of the once beautiful sport. The grace and elegance is gone to sheer athleticism. I’m no longer holding my breath on the edge of my seat for a competitive competition, but instead totally bored with the all-too-similar routines that have replaced those of past years. It’s not the fault of the gymnasts, but the entire governing/ruling body… that is currently controlled by lazy controlling people who want conformity. They claim to care about banning moves that were too “dangerous,” but what does that mean?? Many of the power moves are dangerous too- There were indeed extreme situations, but the committee failed to attempt to arrive at a happy medium. So, instead of sitting down and truly ironing out criteria for the different aspects of each apparatus, they took out the ol’ paint brush and handled everything in one stroke. The sport is reduced to boring turns and tumbling on floor, the infamous “wolf turn” on beam; a few of the same vaults (Biles’s double pike is the only exception to that one)… and lastly, they’ve destroyed creativity or variation on bars! I literally fell asleep watching the last Olympic all around bar finals 😴.. No offense to the sport, but it looks more like a form of refined cheer leading stunts. Much opportunity for these ladies to stand apart from the crowd has been diminished, and everything is about squeezing the highest amount of points by any means necessary. Even the floor routines are just weird now-no real rhythm or cohesiveness. Whatever one can pack into the couple of minutes will do. It’s just sad…and the same comment applies to my other past favorite sport: ice skating. These athletes are limited and judged on compliance to the banality. I hope they restore the awarding system that recognizes the execution of the sheer difficulty of the move, whether in flexibility, balance, and strength of the athlete, not just athleticism and power. However, some of this is on the athletes to also challenge the structure … there was a glimmer of hope in the judging at the Olympics: Zhou Yaqin’s beam routine was unique and beautiful to watch. My apologies for the diatribe…it’s just disappointing is all. :: stepping down from soapbox:: 😊 🙏🏾

Nadia was graceful, agile, and performed like ballet dancers. Today, they have power and acrobatics. Unfortunately, that's all. Nothing like this.
