Hey Dim! Thanks for listening through and thank you even more for sharing your thoughts! It's rare I get such in-depth feedback and it makes having done a project like this even more worth it! For a little history, I started this project back in 2019-2020, and it was released sometime back in '21/22, but I felt I could do a lot better in terms of the mix, which eventually led to this "re-release" with some cut & new tracks. That time period was the same time period that I began feeling more confident regarding my original non-sampled work & composition, and this project was both super experimental and a big step forward for me in that regard! One of the main goals with this project was not only to fit the video game-y vibe, but also to give that feeling of a journey, and was even made with a story I've been sitting on in mind as the basis for it. That being said, I'm glad I was able to deliver somewhat. (Sorry for the PokeTrauma LMAO) For "A Strange Room" and "A Strange Encounter", the idea was kind of to have them flow into one another while carrying over that mysterious vibe. I even was tossing around the idea of having them be one combined track at one point, but ended up settling on two separate ones. Requiem was a track that had to grow on me through a few different iterations before I settled on it's current form, and I was a little worried it might be too simple, but in the end, I'm glad with how it turned out. Alden & Border of Hell are among my personal favorites from this project and were ones that desperately needed love when I revisited the project for this release. I had... Let's just say, some strange mixing methods back in 2019/20, and the project as a whole leaned a lot more on the use of bit-crushing tools for the video game sound, whereas now, it's still audible in there, but it's a lot more listenable than it used to be. The Savior tracks are another pair that are special to me, the first being me just having the time of my life messing around with some guitar plugins and trying to nail a bit of a tense/ominous, yet somewhat uplifting vibe, and the second was meant to bring it around to the big climax like you said! The final track, Gestalt, was intended to be a bit different in terms of the feel. I was aiming for an otherworldly vibe, kind of like when you stumble upon a postgame secret superboss in an RPG, to put in video game terms. I wanted a strange, but memorable end for the project, and I felt it fit pretty well! But yeah, again, thank you so much for the feedback, this made my day and it helped me a lot hearing a brand new perspective on how everything flowed and meshed together on this project! I am working on a uh... Sequel, let's say (you didn't hear that from me🤫) and I'm aiming for a bit more variety in sound/genre. It also makes use of some leitmotifs and other little touches to help bring a more cohesive feel to the "story" I'm trying to tell through it. The second project is technically "finished", but I think I might go give it another good pass over now that I've got a nice little refresh perspective-wise!
