I got lucky and found a parts bike that was local but start checking all over the internet,a lot of parts for these bikes I’ve found have been in Europe. I’d check eBay or local Yamaha dealers and go from there. Thanks for watching the series

Any reason you didn’t use paint stripper instead of grinding everything?
@Adrenaline-Junkiez
@Adrenaline-Junkiez Жыл бұрын
I’ve always have liked using a grinder to remove paint especially on exhausts, let’s you know a little better how the metal has held up and if it’s starting to rust out it tends to remove the rusted out spots and shows the thin spots.

This is not 1989 but 1984-1986 model. At least so it was in european countries... It's a great bike, it has much higher torque in the low rpm than the following models.

@Adrenaline-Junkiez

I usually check eBay just to see if anything pops up with a quick search and then will look up a manufacturers parts diagram list, to get part numbers then see what is good or junk after searching the part number

Just had my exhaust studs done, welded nuts on but most broke off at cylinder head level so had to go to machine shop. they drilled and re tapped 1/4" high tensile BSF set screws. Re the wheels, leave discs off and when spokes etc are cleaned up then laquer wheels to protect spokes.

you need to use exhaust manifold paint or powder coat on the header pipe or else when you start the bike that hi temp burn off in 30 seconds, the muffler will be fine .when an engine is running the head pipe gets very very hot good luck with your build

Hi, just having the same exhaust problem with my 600TT, all four snapped off so had to take head off in the end, [as it's a TT you can remove head with motor in frame] put some 6mm nuts on with stud coming through the nut then mig welded nut to stud and all four just snapped off below nut so off to engineering shop to work on mill. Angle grind the helmet lock off.
