@SimAhLenaКүн бұрын
I want to make CC, while this tutorial is so clear, every additional step she did I was dreading it. There’s so much. Can anyone tell me if it’s personally worth it for them, how long it took them to catch on and if it’s really this bad or just appears horribly complicated and long. I know how to use the adobe suite, have used CAD and designed flats in school but that was like 8 years ago. I’m overwhelmed just watching this. 😭

Thank u sm for such informative and helpful videos!! I tried to create a new top out of two game ones and when i check it in CAS there's a thin black line in a place where two original tops were merged. I connected vertices on a model by using 'at last' method and then connected vertices on a uv map by center. Could this be the problem? It's just that if i connect everything by center the top starts to look weird, but if i don't connect vertices on a uv map at all new texture isn't working properly
@powlunaКүн бұрын
I think I have to see the problem myself, do you maybe have Discord? From what I can tell you, it's not important how you connect the vertices!

@@powluna i just watched two of your latest videos and figured that the problem occured cause one of the tops was tighter than the other one, so blank space appeared when changing sim's body. Tried to transfer UV_1 data from a tighter top and it worked! Thanks for useful information <3

For splitting the mesh groups don't you have to make sure the right bones are in each group? Good tutorial as usual. Do you mind showing a more complex example of splitting into mesh groups? Thanks
@powluna5 күн бұрын
The right bones are not that important as long as there is no weight on them. For some assets it can be neccessary though, e.g. I was working on an infant onesie that covers the whole body and includes the feet and when I import it into S4S as one mesh group it tells me that the vertex groups number is exceeded. In this case I have to split the asset into multiple mesh groups and delete some of the bones from the mesh groups. I have another tutorial on my channel where I split some pants into multiple mesh groups, this is almost the most complex splitting into mesh groups can go!

Hi and thanks again for your video - it's was insanely helpful. I have a question about something you did in Blender. I see that you separated the bottom of the dress to get rid of the shadow/shading issue using 'V' but it didn't look like you connected the loose vertices at any time (other than the LOD meshes). It seems to me that loose vertices aren't ideal for any mesh - do they present a problem?
@powluna8 күн бұрын
Thank you for the feedback! About the loose vertices: in the "Cleaning up the mesh" segment starting at 20:03 I selected the whole mesh and merged all vertices by distance. This was the reason for the shading issues. The only way to get rid of them is to separate the edges. I am not quite sure if I understand your question, can you maybe give an example of what you mean with "loose vertices"?
@Matthewbyrd868 күн бұрын
@@powluna Ah I wasn't very clear. After you separate the edges, the mesh has two different parts - the dress and then the bottom part of the dress. To me it seems then that this dress mesh has two separate parts. I would assume that a mesh like a dress would need to be one single object instead of two to work properly - or is it okay for the dress to have two parts? I'm completely new to making CC so I just want to understand and thank you again for your work!
@powluna8 күн бұрын
Separating a mesh with "V" will not split the object in two parts (or lets better say "mesh groups"), thats only the case with "P". As long as you have one mesh group, you can split the mesh whereever you want to make it look good!

@ ah okay, thank you, that makes sense!

This is SUCH a good tutorial, and you have a beautiful speaking voice. I went through at least 2 other tutorials done by amateurs with annoying voices/speech habits before I arrived here. If anyone is trying to learn and is in doubt about where to go, I highly suggest sticking with this video. Take your time. If you're completely new to editing meshes or textures it might seem a bit overwhelming, but this creator is a godsend. I'm new to blender myself, but this tutorial is very quickly familiarizing me with editing preexisting meshes in it. Excellent.

Can you help me, please? I made bangs for my Sims, but I can't turn them into CC. I wanted the bangs to be glasses to work as an accessory. How do I do that?
@powluna10 күн бұрын
In S4S you have to create a new asset, this one you change to the glasses category. In Blender you have to put the texture of the bangs in the glasses part of the uv map and then you maybe have to add weights and the correct vertex groups (I explain that in the follow up video of this one). I think it could be tricky to make some accessory bangs, but I've seen people do it so its not impossible!

I have followed this tutorial, with the exception of I used Photoshop the entire time, and got a bit lost on the normal map section because of that. When I apply my CC to my Sim in game the skin of the upper torso to her ankles are really shiny. I didn't do anything with the skin part of the mesh, so I am curious what I am doing wrong. I did not add my own specular map, which is what it seems like to me. I follwed the instruction in the tutorial for the specular map. Any idea what could be causing this?
@AllenCH19 күн бұрын
I'm having that trouble too, except it's not shiny, but changes the skin color slightly ankle to neck, split down the side of the sim.
@AllenCH18 күн бұрын
Export the normal map as a DDS file, not PNG to retain the Alpha Channel! I should have remember that. PNG retains transparency only, but not alpha.
@powluna15 күн бұрын
I can imagine that you didn't export the normal map as a dds file maybe? For that you need an Nvidia DDS Plugin if you are using Photoshop. In the worst case you can just skip the normal map, the asset will most likely look the same anyway 😅

@powluna27 күн бұрын
The easiest way to fix this, is to find a necklace from the game that is similar to your necklace and then you would do a data transfer of the uv_1. I showed how to do that in the video before this one, the timestamp you can find in the description!

@KaamillieCatАй бұрын
@powluna so this video shows you with the mesh you pulled from CASstudio, however after you select the top of it you say “bring in the other mesh” but you only showed the process of exporting the mesh 1 time, I’m trying to clarify that we do the export process 2 times for whichever two CAS items we would like to modify, is that correct?
@powlunaАй бұрын
@@KaamillieCat The first one is the mesh we work with (this one I just open by doubleclicking it) and the other one is the one that I append laterb(I showed that I exported it from S4S before). This results in one new mesh, that I then export to bring into Sims 4 Studio. You are also able to use various different meshes from the game to create something very unique (for example you take the sleeves from asset 1, the neck part from asset 2, some belt from asset 3 and the bottom part from asset 4). I hope this answers your question 😅
