So freakin' GAY!!!,....you're a bunch of wine-babies!!!,...."NEVER" brag about pain.,....Welcome pain when you're carefully and professionally inducing/enduring it.Concentrate on the 'SUM of SUCCESS' that enduring/embracing pain can lead to CHANNEL pain to VICTORY.Be thankful you have SEVEN other mates to share it with.,......"IN SILENCE",......None of that prissy display.IMAGINE,if you will having to ride your bike 8/10 miles home on a SUB-freezing day in Philadelphia and being attacked by a group of GANG-BANGERS on your way down into South Philly via North Philly.Try hiding the bruises while explaining why you no longer have your bike.So "NOW" you're beaten/bruised/cut and in pain.And how the hell do you get to practice from Dec.,thru Feb.,except by RUNNING to practice?????!!!!!,....The "ERG" was a VACATION to me!!!!.,.....Grow the hell up you wussies.Quit braggin' and complainin'.,.....Oh by the way ,.....the 6 dudes stole my books/wallet/I.D.,.....etc.,etc., and left a marks in some noticeable/some un-noticeable places.,...But the 'RIVER STILL RUNS' and you gotta' run after it.

Jeeze I miss rowing! Though I still keep at the gym 3 years after my last time being in crew, I'd much rather take on a marathon than an erg. Damn things were torture.

Andrej Djurasic 1:43.8 for a 30' rate 20 is actually not that fast. Most college rowers are expected to be around 1:42 or below for a 30'@20
@CoDWiiPS3Gameplay6 жыл бұрын
peter stone What colleges are you talking about? The British national team 30' test goal is a 1:40 split, I don't know of many college rowers in general, let alone entire programs, that can put up that split.

This is why I think Gary was the greatest middle distance runner ever produced from Canada. He could be competitive in any type of race, fast or slow. He could compete with and beat anybody. Even thought Kevin Sullivan and Graham Hood were both outstanding, they had to compete against such loaded fields at the Worlds and Olympics and never really had a shot at medalling. Reed almost won the 07 Worlds and was .29 from winning the gold in Beijing.

At age 19 our training was 10 times a week. It was awsome. I did a 5k in 17:23. So sad that I didn't went on with it. Rowing is so great. There is notning in the world like this. It almost feels like the boat hover above the water. One summer we went arround the island. 60-70k pr day for 6 days. For a week we did nothing but eat, sleep and rowing. I will never forget it. I was some of the best thing I have ever done i my life.

not going to comment on any other part of this arguement, but what is with everyone and the 60km/h thing? the world record in 8's the average speed was only around 22-23 km/h, which is about 1:20 splits..

As someone who has done both rowing and middle-distance running, I can officially be classed as insane. There is nothing harder on this earth than those two sports where your body can't stay in one metabolic system, where everything tells you to stop. Sure, its only a 6-7 minute race, but its like standing in fire for 7 minutes! But for some reason, us rowers can't get enough of the pain, and the feeling of finishing a race or work piece is like ecstasy. I crave that feeling, and crave rowing!
@matthewodonnellcfc12 жыл бұрын
@absegamifrosh8 He was on a dynamic erg. Your stroke rate on that is like it is on a boat, so it will have been a lot faster than it would have been on a normal erg. Its also Eric Murray.

Any average joe can start a 2k out going hard, its the real rowers who are made when you hit the 750 mark and its time to shift up the rate and ignore the lactic acid in all of your muscles, and its the great rowers who are made when they can take that, then shift up once more with 250 to go.
