Paul, constructive criticism, when audio quality dips that low consistently you should make a choice to either stop the interview, or switching to audio only. I can't speak for others but I generally only listen to the material. So if the video needs to be cut during the interview to improve bandwidth for audio quality, then you may want to consider that option to save the interview. Otherwise good episode 🎉

Julia brought a good point about Cayco’s mental toughness. During the post meet interview he brought up how his breathing was too fast so he went off by himself to focus and slow his breathing shows an aspect to his preparedness and mental focus that few others have

Paul, referring to your observation about the jury’s involvement tapering off towards the end of the meet, the same happened at World BP when we transitioned from Raw to Equipped. They were definitely less involved with the Equipped lifters

Instant replay was at Bench worlds. Again, jury should not be involved unless a coach appeals/protests. I agree that there should be a limit to how many protests a coach has per session. I think it should be at 1. I also agree with Mike that it’s disrespectful to the judges to constantly overturning their decisions and seriously negative for the lifter. You walk off the platform and put in your next attempt, only to be told that the jury has overturned your lift 😡

I agree with Julia about the Jury. At World Bench Championships the jury was super involved. Why do we even have judges if the jury is going to overturn 90% of the lifts? Also, Gaston over influences the other members of the jury when he is on it. He should not be allowed to serve on the jury. I personally witnessed his influence on the jury in S Africa and it was shameful and truly unfair to the lifters that it impacted

Good job. I really like the VIP idea and maybe even reserved seating like movie theaters have now. All streamed meets still have content issues. There were no audience shots that showed the size of the audience or their enthusiasm. Part of that issue is the time limit between lifters. The biggest issue that they can easily correct is the 10 min downtime between squats & bench and bench & deadlift. There should be a highlight reel or a highlight reel of the primary lifters from different meets. Allot of these lifters are producing their own content. Why not ask them to provide a 1-2 minute highlight reel that may or may not be used. People new to powerlifting are going to switch to something different and may not return when there’s nothing but a blank screen

Another good interview. Gavin is spot on with his comments. IPF leadership has forgotten that the sport is for the athlete, not to fund their world travel. For PA lifters and probably other countries as well, it is the lifter that is funding their training, entrance fee, travel, hotel and food while they are away for a competition. Again, why do we have judges if the jury is going to overrule their decision
