Wow. He is so "all in" open authentic, no holding back, no safety net which is glorious for an artist but dangerous. Justin is my "totem" for a mental wellness place I work at. I am the lowly cleaner but i walk among this as part of but not one of, the clinicians or other clients. A unique place. We lost one of our clients to an overdose recently and it really hits hard for all of us. This one connected with the other clients in an amazing, honest, entertaining, fun loving, way like Justin here. They can teach us even after they are gone.

I sent a music video by Blake Mills to a friend once and he responded with "I wish I had his hands" and I then learned that Blake Mills is a universally renowned guitarist/musician. Clearly I don't have the intuit for the guitar, but then I watch JT play on that thing and each time without fail feel like I have been blessed by something really really special. And whoo boy this performance in general. As a fellow fatherless drug addict -- damn brother. Miss you so. Thank you for putting so much of yourself into your craft. The world is so much better for it.

Is there another guitar player? I'm watching pretty closely, and I play guitar, and I can't see how what his fingers are doing is making that sound.

I saw him do this live at a radio station in Dallas. Had interviewed him a couple of weeks prior to his show. He told me he was having a hard time. That’s what Slippin and Slidin was about. He said it his apology about his junkie habits. I just wanted to take home, feed him and let him sleep in my son’s bedroom until he was better. Such a sweet, gifted guy. 💔

Amazing version. Spectacular but subtle country nuance and super tasty outro. And the way the guitarist on the left is geeking out

The highlight of my first and only trip to New York in 2012 was seeing these guys performing on a park bench in Central Park on a sunny Easter Sunday afternoon. Love from bonnie Scotland.

Two influential people in Justin’s music life were two that are also no longer here with us. Stevie Ray Vaughan, and John Prine. Easy observation based on two of his songs that I’ve seen from this day. My starter won’t start, is obviously heavily influenced by SRV and Texas Flood. This song here is a nod to Prine, and his comedic side (Dear Abby, Grandpa was a Carpenter, etc).

Another great song by Joan that I was not aware of. Wish that I knew about her back in 2012. Seeing her in this venue must have been great. Thanks to Joan for sharing her remarkable ability to move people with her singing and thanks to Valerie Barber and You Tube for making her performances available to us Johnny-come-latelies in 2024.
