非常有新意的曲子，可惜中阮演奏者還是用傳統彈法演奏，一弦音色緊繃到不行，完全沒有彈性。

It's playable on the Entire Ruan Family. You can even play it on a Tenor Guitar in Octave Mandolin by tuning the top two strings down a step.

I purchased a Pipa because I liked the sound it produced. Very much an Asian traditional sound. I sold it, though, because the string height on them is ridiculously high [measured about 8mm at the 12th fret, making it pretty hard to play well]. I considered a Ruan, but it sounds too much like a basic 6-string acoustic guitar. Looks very nice, though.

Similar to huqin, the ruan also comes in different sizes. This piece kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoPRpaGCga2nd5I showcases gaoyinruan (high-pitched ruan), xiaoruan (small ruan), zhongruan (medium ruan), and daruan (large ruan), and each size sounds different.

@@MineyChen Thank you for the link! Yes, the higher pitched ruan do sound less like a traditional guitar. Actually, even the one in this video isn't exactly like a basic 6-string. There is enough difference. But I think I would like a gaoyinruan. Also, I did end up ordering another Pipa with lower string height. It's the instrument I like the most.....other than the Erhu. Hopefully this new Pipa will work better for me. It's still in transit.

I do not play pipa, but I do play liuqin. It looks like a small-sized pipa, and has bright and high-pitched tones. Here's a video for the liuqin with Chinese orchestra: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sF63ioygnbF-a7c.
