Contacting station usually starts: "Standby for FLASH Traffic"; then the preamble, then "Message Follows". This EAM could be to notify a change in situation readiness, regional status, or maybe initiates the PAL: Permissive Action Link for codes to unlock nuclear weapons. I used to do these in the Army ('73-'94) as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. Access to these EAMs - sending & receiving - required a TOP SECRET clearance. Good 'ol days. ⚛💥

@@BuddyLee23 I was originally an engineer in the Navy, but a career ending knee injury put me out of commission first for about a year until it was stable enough to unfortunately have to part ways with the service. I went through Naval Nuclear Power School, so I had to get a clearance to attend. After blowing out my knee, I eventually ended up getting assigned to the Public Affairs Office at Naval Operations Base, Norfolk, VA. This base is HUGE! I had an interest in technology and previously was our division’s Information Systems Security Officer at my last sea command, so I used that as leverage to get assigned to the NOC instead! The XO was in the same building and had an “open door” policy, so it worked out almost perfectly. I ended up staying in IT/IS there and at my subsequent temporary duty assignment. Now, one of the “coolest” things that I saw at the time was when I was tasked with coordinating message traffic, those were encoded printouts between different commands, and they were at all levels from unclassified to top secret. It was a huge pain as we still used floppies to bring encoded data from a server to a dedicated computer used to decode the data, and as you could imagine it was a very SLOW process. It’s not like I didn’t have anything to do as I was assigned to do the nightly server maintenance and backups on the UNIX hardware. Occasionally a call would come in too and I’d either try to help someone or log it for assignment later on in the day. I think the “funny” thing is that nothing too interesting “appeared” to go through the system, but in retrospect certain things absolutely needed to be marked top secret as it would have potentially leaked plans, positions, and the like. I mean, we would occasionally see something that catches your attention, but most of it was pretty routine.
@hvnterblack15 сағат бұрын
@@jayrose6312 to keep secret it is fewh good ways. First, most obvious, don't talk about it. But if sb said too much, best is say more, especially sth ridiculous. How to cover leaked information? Send more random informations, that one imporrtant will miss in crowd.

@musicmusicnow5007Күн бұрын
"AB7FOA" could mean different things depending on the context. Here are a few possibilities: Amateur Radio Call Sign: It might be a ham radio operator's call sign, typically formatted with letters and numbers. For example, "AB7FOA" could be the unique identifier for a licensed radio amateur. Acronym or Code: It might represent an abbreviation, a code, or a unique identifier in a specific system, organization, or database. Random String: It could simply be a random sequence of characters, such as a product code, license plate, or unique identifier.

I took a stab at figuring them out a few years ago. I think I decided there was something about which air force base and likely which page of a code book to use for decrypting. I gave up at that point because if they are doing the code book thing, I don't stand a chance. Hmm, don't remember the "auger drill" bit. I'm trying not to think about broken arrows. There used to be something similar but in Spanish and maybe all numbers, no letters. I don't know enough to really say but to me the accent sounded Cuban. I think it had a nice musical interlude and a long digital section. Maybe was just a really dedicated prankster, or even Cuban-Americans talking to family in Cuba.
@JoshColletta22 сағат бұрын
@@ggarber4763 It very well may have been a Cuban spy numbers station. That was how we civilians here in the U.S. finally got **official** government confirmation that numbers stations are, in fact, used for messaging spies in the field. Several Cuban agents were arrested, charged, and convicted on the basis that they had been caught listening to a Cuban shortwave numbers station and using one-time pads to decode the messages.

It’s not a prank. EAM’s are transmitted frequently and there can be an uptick during times like we are in now. Anybody that claims to know what it means however is a liar. Not saying this guy pretends to know. Just saying in general the transmissions change frequently and the code for what these transmissions means at any given time change frequently. These are on a need to know basis. Even many military personnel involved in some capacity don’t know what it pertains to.

Quebec is just he phonetic word for the letter Q. Google the NATO Phonetic Alphabet. Basically, they assign words to letters because “B” can sound like “D” “C” or “P” over a rough radio signal. They use standardized words so people that speak different languages are all on the same page. The words they use have no other meaning except that people know what letter they are talking about when they hear them.
