Kind of curious what non autistic version of same thing is? For contrast. Cos I want to assess if I'm making it up or not. I mean I feel like that is reality I just block out everything except bit in front to manage it. But could be in head. So contrast would be good so can compare which is closer to how seems to me.

This is relatable to an extent. My ears aren’t as sensitive but decently close. I don’t get overstimulated often. The lighting basically looks the same (especially on bad sensory days).

I get this after about 10+ minutes being in a shopping centre/mall. Feel overstimulated the whole time, I have anxiety as well but i don’t get anxiety when I go shopping. I feel overstimulated, almost feeling drowsy, and then need to rest after I go home. But I don’t have autism or anything else ? Can neurotypical people get this too?
@micky3904 ай бұрын
Meaning I generally have anxiety but not in shopping centres so the symptoms are not related to that

This is actually accurate because when I am in a loud or over stimulating place I CANNOT STAND IT ALL, that is why I always pack some sensory items for stimming purposes, if I Didn't however have them in my possession I would have a sensory meltdown. Anyways I hope everybody is having a safe day and keeping bright minds and souls!

Same for me. I do think the way we focus on everyone in the video/the increased perception of sound is realistic, at least for me. But I personally don’t experience bright lights and stuff like that or have meltdowns…

I’m guessing they were trying to visually show what the meltdown feels like. Because visually, meltdowns never looked like that.

I have mild autism and I can say I've never experienced anything like this but empathize with people who do. This looks more terrifying than any sensory meltdown I can personally relate to. I have to say though, that fire alarm was an unpleasant shrill surprise on my headphones

1:09 was all it took for a migraine to begin, the thing is, for me, i just have to stop focusing in on what I'm doing thats making noise or distracting me and once thats out of the way i get a migraine due to all the noises and conversations in public. nothing like the rest of this video after a 1:05 seconds was. As I'm better at controlling it however. I will never be coming back, but 7 years later and this video is going to be one of my rare liked ones

Autism is like a pool of symptoms. I have some of the symptoms in that pool, but not all of them. Someone else may have other symptoms in that pool, maybe completely different symptoms from mine. Both can be labeled autism👍

Finally, an accurate representation. Im sick of people acting like autsim is just so cute and shy and not many people see the reality of what its like or being able to be in someone else's shoes, this isn't just for autsim either it can be for severe anxiety or other things and its just so cool to see something that doesn't make these things seem like a cute joke

People never believe me when I try and tell them it’s literally this bad most of the time cause I’m high functioning. Thank you for making this
@clicheguevara52825 ай бұрын
Same. People think that being high functioning is "easier", but in certain ways, it's actually more difficult. I couldn't even get a proper diagnosis until I was 38. As a kid, my doctors repeatedly misdiagnosed me, put me on drugs, and sent me away to a "home for troubled teens". People treat you differently because you're clearly different, but you don't get any of the compassion or understanding that you'd get if people knew you were autistic. ..and if you're undiagnosed, you just feel like a weirdo or like you're just broken somehow. It's no wonder that so many of us end up with PTSD in early to mid adulthood after decades of masking, isolation, and being completely misunderstood.
@thebuilder52715 ай бұрын
Yeah level 1 support needs just means you need little to no help with ADLs (activities of daily living). Doesn’t mean anything about how bad your sensory sensitivity is or even how “visibly autistic” you are
@icantthinkofaname99353 ай бұрын
Man, I wish I was "high functioning" but I don't think I'm that intelligent but that's okay because you can't help your intelligence:)

1. As a people with autism, some parts of the video was accurate like sensitivity towards sounds and the colors being too bright for the person eyes, however the the flashy lights were too exaggerated in my point of view(Austin people have different level of Surinam so don’t take my judge seriously, my judgement is based my own experiences) 2. The video should’ve included activities like pacing around the mall in a panic way, fidgeting with hands or pinching skin to get rid of the panic attack, or start being angry with the lady without realization whom he is expressing their anger towards. Other than that I really appreciate this video :)
@yayastedi5 ай бұрын
Autism is like a pool of 100 symptoms. You may have 20 of the symptoms in that pool, and I may have 20 completely different symptoms in that pool. Both are still autism. It’s important to remember autism can look different for everyone. And that your personal experience may not be represented in every video. Don’t say “you should’ve included this and this”. Say “autism can look different for everybody and I personally experience this”.
