There's not much in terms of beginners In the lakes. I would start out at whinlatter and do the blue route then maybe the red route if that's okay. Other good official routes for beginners are I'm Dumfries... AE and mabie forest. Look them up on Google followed by mountain biking and there's tonnes of info. Have a great time shredding the trails mate!

Yeah it's called coombs wood above armathwaite in the Eden valley. They're on trailforks though. Great set of trails!

Il stop off on the way home from work one evening to take a look. I’m trying to find 2 tracks to train on. 1)very technical track (dh/enduro) and 2) high speed with jumps/berms(dh/enduro )etc. atm, hamsterley appears to be the best place but I’m hoping to find some local tracks to Shap. Thanks.
@DansTrailShreds Жыл бұрын
I would say coombs is a pretty chill but fun spot. If your after jumps berms then go to setmurthy (outside cockermouth) and from trailforks do setters jumpline, main line and things like roots are slightly more techy. For tech and steeps the best you'll get is like whinlatter off pistes and dent around here but down south lakes is good too. I haven't been to descend bike park in ages but it was amazing so definitely want to return!
@DansTrailShreds Жыл бұрын
For local trails you don't have many options. Between me and you there's some secret stuff above Penrith on beacon hill and coombs wood but you really need to drive
@uksg185 Жыл бұрын
I stopped at coomb woods on Wednesday after work. Didn’t have a lot of time to explore it all but I saw 5 tracks (from armathwaite side of woods) and they look good. Some look a bit steep but rideable once I’m up to speed on a bike again. The soil is almost completely sand I noticed on some tracks so finding grip on the steeper sections may be a challenge at first. Thanks again for your help and advice. Il go hamsterley again a few more times to try to get up to speed and used to the new bike.

Would love to try and get up to Scotland this year riding. Are the trails pretty easy to find for someone completely unfamiliar with the area?
@DansTrailShreds Жыл бұрын
All the trails here are on trailforks.com under the area named Caberston. Parking is at the golf club next to innerleithen (theres spots before and after the golf club). Now make your way to the top and i recommend: New York New York, Repeat offender, flat white, community service, big baw and feed the pony if u get the chance. It's a very popular spot where there are trails on every part of the hill and if u get lost there are plenty of people to ask. Other spots in the valley include Glentress which has a bit easier riding and trail centre stuff, innerleithen (on the opposite side of the valley) which includes alot of dh stuff with an uplift. It's definitely one of the best areas in the UK and couls easily spend weeks there as everywhere is good and there's so much! Hope you enjoy it!

Really didn't like the changes on the North loop. They took out the rocks over the root which was a big thing for my lad, took many visits before he managed to get over it and was a massive achievement when he did. The berms replacing the tech also sucks! There are enough berms and now even less tech than the little there was. Nice vid though.
@DansTrailShreds2 жыл бұрын
Yea that section on the north used to be my favourite section due to tech but theyve completely changed it into flow now. I do prefer the old trail for 2nd to last descent on north but that last section makes up for it :D
