Is there ever a time that you would want to make "portrait" sheet sets, or would you just rotate the drawing 90 degrees to make it fit better?
@tailwaterlimited4 ай бұрын
It depends on the look you are shooting for. I typically leave my sheets as they are and rotate the view frame, but there may be times when a "portrait" sheet looks better.

When I create my offset alignment only one side appears. What am I doing wrong?
@tailwaterlimited8 ай бұрын
Typically that means that there is not a solution for your offset alignment. Make sure that the radii in the alignment that you are offsetting are greater than or equal to your offset distance.

Thank you for the video. Could you pls explain why you are adjusting the radiuses at 1:40. Seems to be a design concept I'm not understanding. Thank you.
@tailwaterlimited9 ай бұрын
You bet! The offsets from the second alignment are used to define our bankfull bench grading. The bankfull bench grading helps shape how the water will act at flows greater than bankfull stage. Initially those flows will be directed towards the inside, or point bar, side of the channel, moving it from the outside bend towards the inside. If the point bar is functioning correctly, water flowing over it towards the inside bend will be shallow enough not to have enough power to move sediment, therefore being a depositional zone. On the outside of the bend, the point bar's function is to scour, keeping the pools cleaned out. Once we use these offsets to create the corridor, the corridor surface can be used as a canvas for using Stream Tools to refine the bankfull channel design which I describe in the next video in the series kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHXHYpmwjp2Xfc0. Thank you for the question and please feel free to reach out with additional questions, or if you need additional clarification.

If you needed to stay within a set "Limits of Disturbance", would adding a breakline/boundary to a corridor surface impact the elevations created in the corridor surface? Or would it be better to adjust the the properties of the corridor (alignment, assembly, etc.) prior to creating the corridor surface?
@tailwaterlimited10 ай бұрын
If you had a limits of disturbance polyline you wanted to tie into you could put the existing ground elevations on the polyline using a grading utility, then using a linkwidthandslope subassembly you would target the 3dpolyline for your corridor.

Hi, I have just started working on the geometric design of channels, particularly irrigation channels. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share any codes or regulations related to designing irrigation channels, including information on the radius of curvature, horizontal slope, and channel specifications. Thank you very much in advance.
@tailwaterlimited10 ай бұрын
Our focus is mainly using the concepts of natural channel design, which uses surrogate reference reaches to help inform our design parameters. The NRCS National Engineering Handbook, is a good starting point for finding direction, though there are numerous references out there to help you with design. Hope that helps. Thank you!
