I'm deliberating whether to recommend that a friend migrates from Essentials to Simple Start, but it's the lack of Manage Bills in Simple Start that's I'm not sure about. Is it not possible in Simple Start to do a journal entry to achieve the same thing - i.e. debit expense account, credit supplier/payables account? My friend is not likely to require the ability to set up many bills, but as long as he can do the odd journal entry like I described then that'll suffice. I asked a QuickBooks adviser, but they couldn't answer my question, so I'm hoping you might be able to! Many thanks.

Hi Aaron, I've just started entering pre incorporation expenses into Quickbooks following these steps and everything was balancing perfectly while I was keying the stock asset transactions but I've hit a hurdle when it comes to the operating expenses I've paid from the Directors Loan account. I can't for the life of me figure out how to add them and make them balance. I keep getting a negative balance when I run the report. Please help, thank you

How do I write a journal to clear Trade Debtors who paid after the end of the last financial year, please? My accountant writes a journal at the end of the following financial year with OBs for all accounts, but I'd rather do individual transaction journal myself (if that makes sense?). TIA.

I use the new Core Payroll and have no confidence in its ability to run a payroll accurately and am disappointed with the level of support provided by Intuit. Today I wanted to add a new pay item. I could not find the functionality that would allow me to determine whether this item would be subject to tax and NI or whether it would be included in pensionable pay. I telephoned Intuit support and the lady did not understand my query. I went on the support chat. The gentleman said that he was not a payroll expert but would transfer me to the relevant support. After 45 minutes I was still awaiting a response so exited the chat. I thought that the service provided by Intuit was appalling.

hi, somthing like to see on quickbooks soletradrr which is a nice feature of freeagent is the bilty for the user to not reline on the accountant if they dont want to use an account and have the ability to file from with in the program maube not the mobile their self assment, vat and other ta retun on both sole traders and ltd. quickbooks seem to gone down the accouncry route to much. were freeagent give you the optionmore. not sure whattake xero has, is it more accouncey lead for this function or do it yoru sef. posble s good video topic for you to cover account filleing vs do it your self filings

I bought sole trader today because my nch is not sending Invoices and they are not honoring their support. I just started sending invoices with your system or demo I'm not sure which because they are late. I haven't set up anything yet. The bank account we use is also our general account and not only business. We are a very small firm and joining our bank account may be difficult. We are already being paid by most of our customers and they are the same every month. I would like to use the invoicing and applying payments so as to see anything unpaid. Maybe some other things will be of use to me as I learn about the system. So what can I do please?

Thanks for the help. You've answered most questions, but a few people have asked an unanswered question about why "Tax on Profit (AC34 and AC35) have been left blank. Do these need to be calculated and entered? Or are they only amounts paid (not accrued) in the year?

Maybe a daft question, but after adding those entries, you'd do a bank transfer to your own account form the business account right? Then you'd match those deductions with the two expenses?

Great video but how can I update my transactions in QuickBooks if I started an eBay business using my regular bank account and then switched to a business bank account after I realised that I had a viable business? I'm in my first year of selling and now half of my transactions are in a regular current account and only recent transactions are in the new business account.

Hi I really need to talk to an accountant about my reselling can you help me with this ?

This looked interesting, but it is sadly useless for my purposes. There does not seem to be any way to get this to work when you're coming through as an accountant into a client's QBO, is there? I only see Spreadsheet Sync as an option at my firm's level, this is not a choice when I select a client, at least that I can see, either in Accountant Tools or when I select the Gear Icon. Odd, because I can and have entered journal entries and even transactions, but I'm shut out of this function for my clients. Not the first time I've wasted an hour of my life trying to figure something out, but I wish the video was a bit clearer on that point. Edit: I do have access to this feature for clients with QuickBooks Online Advanced. However, I can't justify this/realistically request this of/for small business clients, since Advanced is literally quadruple the price of Essentials. (US$ 65 vs US$ 235 per month. Ouch.)

Hi, thanks for this video. I have a questions if you don't mind. Some days I will make say 5 transfers from one bank account to another. They will be of the same amount. So say on 26/09/24 I make 5 transfers of £22.50. When I come to match them it won't show me a match. Quickbooks advised I manually categorise them but when I do this and come to reconcile, I end up with duplicates. Thank you for your time.

QB for landlords does not cater for mortgage payments i.e. the 20% tax credit or for those landlords with furnished property there is no catwgory for replacing items. As an accountant you should know there are boxes on tge self assessment form to deal with both these issues yet QB doesn't and is tgerefore useless. Just wasted £6 to find this out and several hours .
